greetings everyone, hope someone can help me determine this, on the 2nd Test England vs India from aug 12-16 2021, did England Saved the follow on? its my understanding that to save the follow on they had to have won the 1st inning by 200+ runs, which they didnt, if i understand this correctly england didnt saved the follow on? or is it the opposite of what i think it is? thank you in advance to anyone who can help me, im really a newbie on cricket stuff, but trying to understand it

The side batting second can be made to follow on only if they're 200+ runs behind in the 1st innings. So England saved the follow on when they reached 165 runs.

Or to quote law 14.1.1: "In a two-innings match of 5 days or more, the side which bats first and leads by at least 200 runs shall have the option of requiring the other side to follow their innings."
