Thoughts

Ok the forum has been very very very quiet over the last few weeks so i thought i'd try and get some conversation happening...

What are your thoughts on the new sim so far??

We have had 6 Rounds, 3 of each form of the game and im interested to hear peoples views on this...

Reason for concern

It's worrying how quiet the forum has been!
Have people lost interest?
Are people taking advantage of the amount of work that Blewy does?
I remember when i started everyone would write match reports, rivalry between teams would exist, all teams would sumbmit there teams. Those days are long gone, people don't take pride in their teams anywhere, we're getting lazy.
Everyone has to pull their fingers out or this game is heading towards the scrap heap. Then perhaps we'll realise how good it is when it's finally gone!!!! Let's not let that happen and let's get behind it.

On the new sim, I can't say that I'm really that much of a fan... mainly cos my team hasn't won a one dayer yet!! haha.... nah I just think that the old sim was more solid and dependable on giving fairer run chases, better teams more wins and was just a more solid all round sim. I'm wondering what you guys are thinking about this.

Perhaps an improvement i could see made around here is the introduction of salary. I play in a rugby league sim similar to this and it is going through a healthy phase. They have a very effective salary system which can happen here with a bit've work. I know personally now I have more time on my hands I'd be willing to help out with the running of the salary system to take some of the already heavy weight off blewy's shoulder. http://au.geocities.com/forum_rugby_league/
That's the site if any of you are interested.

Anyways I'd personally like to hear your views on this topic and I hope all of you start firing up for WCC because otherwise it's no fun....

i agree, this has becoe very quiet lately and i am a little worried that ppl have or are taking blewys work fro granted. i dont want to see this sim fizzle away to nothing and completely dissappear altogether, so lets get back into the swing of things know that xmas and new years are over and give blewy and wcc the supoort it needs to keep it the no 1 pbem game there is.

i would be happy to put together a salary cap and give all players wages and go through it all.

I for one have not lost interest but rather am more busy than I've been in a while. This could be because school has just started back. When things settle down more, I'll try to post more on the WCC forum in my effort to get some conversation going.

When I first stated WCC in the middle of the year there was plenty happening. But I have noticed how there has been a lack of posts. I'll admit to being lazy with not posting match reports, I guess if there was a penalty I could find the time. I promise to write one for every week from now on.

Maybe instead of a match report each manager could discuss who is playing well and who isn't and this would involve the managers on who are the good players etc. and it could get some discussion happening (just an idea).

I for one hope I am not taking Blewy's work for granted, afterall he's helped me out with some record viewer stuff which I am more than thankful. If you want help with anything, let me know and we can work something out.

I have been here since practically the beginning
but now i think it has been a bit rushed.
Good things come to those who wait... and the season was on us so fast we had no time to think things over.

Taking me for instance.... the season officially started when the draft started. People wanted this to happen asap. But this was done during exams. This didnt go well with me and im sure blewy did as best he could with my team but now my team doesnt have a chance in div 1 and it will take at least two seasons to get it back. I have 1 average keeper for one dayers and a different average keeper for four dayers.

I also remember last year we took a break over the xmas time because it was too hard to get the teams in. Some things need a break.

So thats maybe all we need a bit of a break although now people will get back on to a routine and so.... get back into it.

I don't know if it's my internet connection or what, but I've found it almost impossible to access this website over the past month.

I've also noticed the down time for this site and that may have affected things. I think people have had holidays lately and things will be back to normal soon enough. I also would like to see a salary system eventually. We had a look at a few near the end of last season but nothing really looked good.

The new sim is OK I think. It's definitely better than vc4. There were too many 0s is vc4. It seemed so easy just to roll through the tail. People have to remember that the sim doesn't have to always give the good teams a win. Upsets occur in real life and so they should in the sim.

WRT Downtime - the server has been poor of late, however we are moving severs on January 17 so things should improve thereafter.

I dont think anyone is taking Blewys work for granted. Its just that some of the results have been poor. I know that Ive said it a lot, but Somerset clearly have the best side in D5 OD yet they are somehow unable to win a game. Aucklands 16 also caused problems and if scorecards like these are beginning to happen, people will most obviously lose passion for WCC.

I have been a victim of this, no doubt, as I forgot to post my side this week. I was out last night, but I won't use that as an excuse.:(

ive been away for a week, and going away again for a week, and i think there are a few others that have been or are going are going away, which doesn't help with activity levels

new sim, well i dont like the OD part much, maybe its just cause results haven't gone my way, not sure, but chasing seems a little hard for most teams, the 4d version is fairer and the results have been pretty accurate so far in my opnion

I'm leading quite a busy life at the moment, with the band and trying to get work and all...

As for the SIM, I'm not sold on it yet, it seems to be quite inconsistant and the OD side more so...

Guys...

I haven't lost interest but my Grandfather hasn't been well so I have been spending extra time with him.

As for the new Sim....I still need a little convincing that it's better than what we had before but I am keeping an open mind about it!!

Well this week I was one of the people in the wrong. I was away at a cricket carnival over the last week and forgot to tell anyone, for which I am very sorry. :(

but I think with this being a very busy time of year it's making WCC pretty dull of late. But I do expect things to pick up. Like Umpire Money said "All good things come to those who wait."

On the subject of the new sim, I think the OD side is actually pretty appauling. Having said that the 4D Sim seems to be very sound and a big improvement on VC4.

Just a thought, but rookies also normally perform better in one-dayers. So maybe we could use the new sim for just 4D? Just a thought though.

U will have noticed this in another thread but the interviews are starting up again....

I think the fact that the new Sim is unpredictable is not helping things.

As for 4d - the Free State retards very nearly won their last game - not good :P

The season is perhaps a bit too long. When the new season begins I'm always looking foward to the next, so I can see my team get better. Seeing it get better is so exciting....

The new sim is much more realistic than VCM4. Stop complaining!
At the moment I don't see how players averaging about 40 in their careers should all be averaging 20. Same thing applies to the 50+ average players Mashonaland, Guyana and Jamaica picked up. They have barely made a score. Added to a hell of a lot of very odd results, I'd hardly say it's more realistic.
