Fair to say such a pattern of scores across a whole (albeit very short) is fairly unique, if nothing else

Kohli will though, just needs to find a bit more consistency. I rate Rahane but there are plenty of excellent players who finish with high 40 averages and no one suggests they should have averaged more.

Harold Larwood the best bowler to average over 28?

It's bloody crazy his average his higher than Gus Fraser's, no offence to Gus. Larwood has this amazing reputation and it just not sync up with the test stats

McDonald surely the best with an average over 33
Possibly among fast bowlers. Anil Kumble, Bishen Bedi, Rangana Herath, Lance Gibbs and Saqlain Mushtaq are all very highly regarded spinners with averages over 28.

Remember Larwood had to play most of his Tests against by far the best batsman ever, who consistently buried him in every series except Bodyline. In fact, excluding the Bodyline series, Larwood's average is over 40!

That's in Ashes Tests; it's 34.84 in all Tests excluding the bodyline series.

I seem to remember reading an analysis which said that Larwood averaged somewhere in the mid-20s if you take out the runs scored by Bradman against him.

He has a massive reputation mostly because he was Bradman's fiercest rival in the 30s and Bradman absolutely tore him apart.

You must be jelly that Nair overtook Voges as the 2nd best batsman in the history of test cricket.

Somebody answer my question

and best bowler not to get to 1000 FC wickets.
None of Glenn McGrath, Sydney Barnes, Bill O'Reilly, Dale Steyn, Dennis Lillee, Michael Holding and Curtly Ambrose took 1000 FC wickets.

Wasim Akram is the worst batsman to have scored 250+ in a Test innings and Jack Hobbs is the best batsman to not have done so (along with Tendulkar )
