Whichever Zimbabwean bowled full-stop would qualify - except Utseya, of course. Even he was absolutely horrible in the last game.Right arm fast said:and whichever zimbabwean bowled to justin kemp last night
Ian Harvey.SJS said:Here is a follow up on a similar batsman's thread.
Similarly the condition here is that these should be regular bowlers expected to bowl their ten overs in a fifty over game.
Sehwag, Tendulkar, Ganguly and their type do not qualify.
I think his reputation in that regard was built up on a few early performances, and he never quite lived up to them later in his career. Usually when someone sees a bowler with a decent control over line and length and a high quality slower ball they assume them to be a good death bowler, but it's not always that straightforward.Richard said:Ian Harvey.
It was more to do with how effective Jayasuriya was in the last 5-10 overs. His darts can be tough to play, and very tough to hit 4s and 6s.nookie_lk said:yeah maybe once.....but ovearall he is not good at all...i rememeber a couple of years ago he used to bowl in the depth and give around 15 - 20 runs for the last over or two. maybe now he's abit better..but trust me he was crap.
I remember Arjuna used to give Muralil and Jayasiriya to bowl the last 5 becuase Vass was crap.
Jayasuriya when he gets it right is twice as effective as Vaas will ever be - Vaas is wasted at the death.Jono said:It was more to do with how effective Jayasuriya was in the last 5-10 overs. His darts can be tough to play, and very tough to hit 4s and 6s.
Kabir Ali has a very high economy-rate, but picks up wickets very regularly- that strike rate is impressive. Balaji's just too slow to get away with bowling loose balls, so he's often prone to going for lots of runs without too many wickets.Richard said:With the possible exception of Kabir (and even less so Balaji) these are simply poor any time!
Batsmen can take more time against medium-pace and adjust their shots.Richard said:Arjun, anyone is too slow to get away with bowling loose balls a la Balaji.
In fact the quicker you are, the more tightly you need to bowl, because loose balls slide off the bat so easily.
Slower-balls at the death are generally a recipe for disaster anyway.SpeedKing said:has to be Mathew Hoggard. he is an absolute disaster at the death. no slower ball, no decent yorker just line and length which is fodder in the last 10 overs.
true about Hoggard, but hopefully he shouldn't play another ODI again.SpeedKing said:has to be Mathew Hoggard. he is an absolute disaster at the death. no slower ball, no decent yorker just line and length which is fodder in the last 10 overs.
kabir ali is hot at times, then ice cold at other times, thus very unpredicatble at the death so you can't really concretely say he is one of the worst.
Honorary mention to Symonds [so toothless in the last 10], Alex Wharf and me [ATM].
