State Vice-Captain
I have been grilled for this over here, but I will repeat it again. I feel NZ should have considered Nathan McCullum for the test team at some point. They went ahead with the lesser talented Mark Craig while he was still around.
My suggestion was purely based on what I saw in NMac's bowling(not going too much into the stats here). He was always very accurate, and did well against the Asian teams(in whatever LO cricket he played against them) who usually play spin very well. One thing that really stood out for me was that he could bowl at different speeds with the same amout of tidyness and subtle variations. You see a lot of spinners who struggle to adjust their pace/lengths according to the pitches.
Its just my opinion and you can disagree, but I think NMac could have been a decent pick for the NZ test side as a bowling all-rounder.
