Thanks a heap for the time and effort put in to all those involved. Another here who is disappointed about missing out on playing it, but fully respect the decision. Thanks guys. :)

I was only involved for the last season or so, but it was already a top game, sad to see it go - it is a shock as well just with the new season about to start. Thanks for all your hard work

RIP. I managed Somerset in the early days, and had another shot with Free State in Season four (?), but never managed to stick the course.

A big loss to the CW community.

I feel like the Western Reds manager of 1998.

The Reds, a rugby league side, hired a new manager, a new coach and a whole heap of new players for the 1998 season, only to be told shortly after that they were no longer going to be funded by News Ltd, and hence the manager, coach etc never to run their new side.

The same thing has happened to me, really. On the verge of starting my first season, and the league closes down.

I cant say it was unexpected though, to be honest. If you read the other threads Blewy and others have posted over the last month or so, it was always on the cards.

Did anyone else see this thread and think it was the official launch of the season? How wrong I was :(

Holy crap. Like James, I thought this was announcing the start of a new season.

I'd only had one season of WCC and, despite being stuck with probably the second worst team in the league, I really enjoyed my time here. While I am very disappointed to see this come to an end, I can understand the decision you guys made and I want to thank Simon, Brendon, and everyone else who had a part in making this a really fun game.

Hmm, I expected it to be about the new season aswell. Shame, shame. Glad I got to play 3-4 games as Yorkshire.

Well done, it has been the third biggest thing on CW (behind CW XI and IRL.. okay... I'm kidding :D). Good decision to end it before it spiralled downwards. Ciao.

i must admit i am in total shock. i have been apart of this from day 1 and would never have thought it would have come to this however i can understand how it does happen with blewy working big hours myself also working big hours(as i said to blewy i would be happy to take over the running but work commitments and family) it is just so hard these days. i will miss all the wcc crew however would like to think that just maybe wcc could get back of the ground. i am more than happy to keep the legacy going but that would be a decision for blewy and si....anyway good luck guys and i will see you all in the forums.......

As a committed player and manager i'm disappointed to see the game end this way although it is always better to end on a high which is what it has done. Thanks a lot to Blewy and Simon and the WCC board for making this such a great game. I was looking forward to being in division 1 but i fully respect and understand the decisions and wish everyone all the best for the future. As they say life goes on, as this chapter ends another one begins. May the next chapter be as entertaining as this.

I don't understand. Why go through the nightmare that it must be for you guys to do the draft, and then pull the plug right before the season starts? I realise doing the draft must be hard work, but by comparison it must be much easier once the season actually gets going. I fully understand why Blewy and Simon might not want to go on and that is their decision, but I reckon we should have gone ahead with this one last season, as I reckon someone else could sim the games etc. Also afaik there is still a waiting list of people wanting to play so how can you say it's not popular anymore?

Yeah TBH I'd like to see Season 7 run maybe in a different format though to keep everyone interested.

Having got a team just before the announcement i'd love to see it carry on in some form....
Fair play to the decision though.

Can't believe I missed this thread. Only noticed it when I was coming in to ask if we were going ahead with matches this weekend. I am very sad to see WCC come to an end. I loved getting those results on the weekends (even though they were usually not in my favour), trading was also fun and the interactions with other members was a joy aswell. If it wasn't for WCC I wouldn't have found this forum, so I have a lot to owe to it.

I know everyone must feel a bit down about the decision but it must be harder for Blewy and Simon who have put so much effort into it.
