Judgment Day (or should that be Judgment Days!) starts tomorrow with the final round of qualifiers for the Crucible. The Aussies on here will be pleased to know that Neil Robertson will be back after shockingly failing to qualify last year, but the 2 Indians and 2 Pakistanis who played in the qualifiers (and the one British Bangladeshi) were all knocked out in the early rounds of qualifying

Possibly the story of Judgment Day is the World Championship return of former UK Championship winner Zhao Xintong having been banned since the 2023 event due to his involvement in the big match-fixing scandal

Final qualifying round results:
Daniel Wells 10-9 Gary Wilson—an upset considering Wilson was one spot outside being seeded
Zhou Yuelong 10-5 Yuan Sijun—fairly routine for Zhou who makes a welcome return having lost in the final round of qualifying for the past 4 years
Zak Surety 10-3 Ricky Walden—cracking result for Surety who will make his Crucible debut
Hossein Vafaei 10-4 Wang Yuchen
Ben Woollaston 10-4 Ross Muir—Woollaston making his first Crucible appearance since 2013, joining his wife who will be officiating there!
Zhao Xintong 10-8 Elliot Slessor—cracking game, say what you like about Zhao (FWIW, his offense was the least serious of all the players caught up in the scandal), even after an enforced layoff he’s serious player, Slessor would have beaten anyone else in the qualifying draw
Ryan Day 10-5 Sunny Akani—another fairly routine win
Chris Wakelin 10-2 Martin O’Donnell—seriously good performance, Wakelin is one to avoid for the seeds for sure
Fan Zhengyi 10-4 Michael Holt
Joe O’Connor 10-7 Jackson Page—not to be for the double maximum man
Pang Junxu 10-6 Jamie Jones
Wu Yize 10-9 Matt Stevens—far from easy for Yize! Nervy final frame in which both players had chances
David Gilbert 10-9 Aaron Hill—heartbreak for Hill who led all the way only to be pipped at the post
Lei Peifan 10-9 Gao Yang—another heartbreak for amateur Yang who had chances at 9-8 and 9-9 to qualify
Matthew Selt 10-9 Jimmy Robertson—another nervy game, bit of needle which seems to follow Selt around!
Ali Carter 10-5 He Guoqiang
