Season XIV Cricket Web Red Awards
First Class Player of the Season.
Written off at the start of the season, Red players were out to prove that they had what it takes. Amir started off strongly with the ball, taking wickets at an alarming rate, unfortunately slowing in the second half of the season. This left it mostly up to the batsmen to get things done, with three stand-out performances. Dauth, as usual, performed admirably, Kearsley dominated attacks, and Gray had a spectacular season. Ultimately however it was Kearsley who prevailed, finishing just one vote clear of Gray in a tight vote.
One Day Player of the Season.
Whilst a disastrous season for the team, there were a couple of stand-out performances. Dauth stood alone with the bat, amassing an incredible 1051 runs from just 13 appearances. On the other end of the scale young rookie West had a dominant season with the ball, taking an impressive competition leading 40 wickets at 21.35. Dauth however took the honours, his lone hand with the bat impressing all.
Rookie of the Season.
West blew away the competition here, not only was his OD bowling immense, he also performed more than admirably in the First Class Arena, completing an awesome debut season, and showing extreme promise for the future.
Player of the Season.
In what was nearly a formality, Rob Dauth took the honours for player of the season. His excellent First Class record coupled with his lone hand in the One Day batting stakes made him an obvious choice. Given more chances West may have challenged, unfortunately his lack of First Class game time cost him, as Dauth was ahead of the rest of the pack, Kearsley and Gray's First Class dominance not enough to take them across the line.
Congratulations to all the winners and thank you to those who voted.
