That was what I meant. Someone who would realistically get selected in their national teams based on either skill. Pollock, Hadlee, Jadeja and Vettori had performed better than some specialist batsmen in their batting line-up, but I hardly doubt they would get pick based on their batting alone.
For what it's worth, Pollock once played an ODI series purely as a batsman, where he made his only century.

He didn't just played, he was also the highest run scorer of that series...... Was their any specific reason why he didn't bowled given even ABD bowled in a match?

I did some digging and the story seems to be that he'd had an operation to remove a growth from his foot and while batting was clearly no problem, he hadn't recovered enough to be able to bowl.

At that point, all five of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, South Africa and West Indies were better than England.
During Flintoff’s peak? Absolutely not. There’s an argument to be made for Pakistan. South Africa were beaten by us at home and Windies is a shout so ridiculous that I can’t believe you could post it with a straight face

I’ve seen more ridiculous shouts in cricket.

Ok, I would give you that WI isn't a good shout as I was thinking of a few years prior team; and SL bowling carried by Murali and Vaas isn't enough to rank them above England. But yeah, I still think around 2003-04 India, SA and Pakistan were better team.
(Not to mention I originally commented of based on ODIs)

Oh in ODIs I’d agree.

04-06 (this being Flintoff’s peak) in Tests I think it’s hard to make a case for India. England managed to draw a series there with half a team. And we won in South Africa.

I thought initially of around the 2002s (i.e. Sourav Ganguly Lord's shirt incident); when India drew a series in England and followed that by beating the unstoppable Australia at home. Then I thought of the 2004/05 Australia series, which we drew in Australia.

On the topic of Kallis, in his best 5 year period bowling (98-03) 53 matches 135 wickets at 26.62. (3964 runs @ 56.62 in this period)

If South Africa insisted on playing a spinner (Adams or Boje) he’d be competing with Ntini for the third pace spot (33 matches 118 @ 28.22). Wouldn’t be crazy (though I don’t know if I would pick him based on that alone)

Checks out.
Kallis would not have been making the team as a specialist in the 90s (and the last couple of years of the 90s were probably when he was bowling his best, no matter what the stats tell you). But 90s had Donald, Pollock, and several quicks who either were genuinely good or seemed to have the potential of being so. And a bunch of seam ARs.

Pipeline was running dry in the early 2000s. By 2002 Donald was out. Ntini's career record was still trash. Not much besides Pollock around. Guys like Andrew Hall and Andre Nel were starting to get long runs in the side. Kallis was obviously a much better bowler than them at that stage. Plus the guys who were tried and discarded.
