My man-for-man analysis:
JAMES 8 - A few bits of wandering but the best save since Banks in '70.
NEVILLE 8 - Didn't do much, did he? Kept Emre quiet, very quiet.
BRIDGE 7 - Grew in confidence throughout the game, great ball for Ferdinand before the goal.
FERDINAND 8
CAMPBELL 9 - Both centre backs were excellent, keeping Mansiz, Sukur and Nihat out the game very effectively.
BUTT 7 - Freed Gerrard with the holding role but little else special
BECKHAM 8 - Showed passion, fight and it was a brilliant penalty. Free kicks, crosses and corners a bit iffy.
GERRARD 7 - A much better second half after drifting and seeming ineffective in the first. Some passion at last...
SCHOLES 7 - Average... really is due a goal!
OWEN 6 - Not much at all, a couple of mis-kicks, overshadowed by his junior partner.
ROONEY 10 - No words for it.
VASSELL 8 - Very effective when he came on, great finish
DYER 7 - Won a penalty.
We were magnificent - the best we've played since Munich in late 2001. Rooney or Heskey, no comment needed. Now we can go on and qualify.
As for the penalty, it could have gone either way. Dyer was stumbling but Bulent made sure he went down - Emre handballed earlier which was a definite penalty, but there was no way an official could've seen it.

Real Madrid's McManaman dismisses Beckham move
Real Madrid's England international Steve McManaman said Wednesday he thought there was little likelihood of the Spanish giants signing Manchester United star David Beckham.
Beckham was reported Wednesday to be looking for an English school in the Spanish capital for his son Brooklyn.
But McManaman, who joined Real from Liverpool three years ago, said he could not see how Beckham would fit into Real's multi-national squad.
"We have a very good squad, imagine what it would be like if we signed a player like Beckham," he told Diario AS.
And he saw a problem with trying to fit Beckham into a position already filled by Portugal's Luis Figo, who has already rejected a possible move to Manchester as part of an exchange deal.
"It's difficult, they both play in the same position ... Luis is a fantastic player. You can't believe all of the rumours," McManaman said.
McManaman also made it clear he would not go to Manchester in part-exchange.
"It's impossible for me to go to Manchester, it would never ever happen. I played for Liverpool and it would be like a Madrid player moving to Barcelona. I don't miss England and I am very happy here," he said.
Real sporting director Jorge Valdano sparked a frenzy of speculation last week ago by declaring Beckham was Real's 'next big project' following the breathtaking deals for Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and Figo in recent years.
Beckham, who agreed 105,000 pound-a-week package with United in May, had said he would be interested in the move.
Real have broken the world transfer record twice in the last three years with the signings of first Figo and then Zidane.
And last year they spent 45 million euros on Brazilian superstar Ronaldo, despite a recession-hit transfer market.

I'll back up PY a bit here, I didn't watch the game really closely but all I saw was Rooney miss-kicking shots, getting tangled up with defenders and wasting passing chances, I didn't see any brilliant shots or superb passes or anything special, in fact to me (and I don't watch football much) he was quite a let down. I would give him 6 at most. That's from what I saw though, and remember I don't know much about football, if I did then I probably wouldn't be so hard on players but that's probably because players arn't marked down as much as they are in Cricket for a single action, probably because in Cricket a **** ball goes for 6 and in football a **** shot goes wide but "at least he had a go."

He was consistently creating something out of nothing. The way he was playing, particularly at the end of the first half when no-one else was showing, was magic.
The ball that fed Owen 1-on-1 was excellent, and the way he ran at defenders and beat them was superb. Add to that the 40 yard through ball straight into Gerrard's stride (leading to another Owen miss) after the sublime close control, and the vision that preceded the backheel that nearly found Beckham.
