Just what we need, another country with a billion plus people in it and a rapidly developing economy. All they'll need is five minutes' success and won't they be a pleasant pack of fans to deal with?
Haven't a clue where you're coming from,

Went for nobody, with no half decent first class structure I can't see Ireland making the leap up to Test status. We don't won't to make the same mistakes as we did with Bang, if we introduce a new country do it right or not at all.

Well at least they'll be good at stats

I reckon the Chinese could become pretty good at test cricket and overtake Bangladesh in a couple of years after getting test status. They already have good partnership with Pakistan in cricket and Pakistan is trying to get China to host matches.

Lets face it their government always throw enough money at sport in the aim to be the best so it isn't as daft as it sounds. The trouble would be getting it to take off there in the first place, do that and they will soon improve.

Pakistan would probably the first Test playing nation to play an international in China, and would get decent support from cricket fans in China.

We've already got one test nation who can't host home games. Afghanistan makes Pakistan look like the Isle of Wight too.

Also, Paksitan and India on the outers a bit too now with the latter's reluctance to host or even let the players of the former into their country. Hopefully the "sub-continetal bloc" now split assunder.

Anyway, Ireland deserve it the most in terms of results.
Interesting Freudian slip.

Really hope Ireland get it, but I think everyone is sceptical of the ICC allowing it without dragging things out. Would be interesting to see how England would vote when it comes up.

They'll just wait out the current golden generation (if not shamelessly poach the lot) and then say, you ain't even the best associate anymore. Nothing's gonna change in long as giving out test status means reducing ICC revenue for other full members.

Bangladesh is one decision. And BCCI and ECB both were against the Test championship due to $$ issues.
Yeah, the CA,ECB and BCCI all got together against Pak and a couple more IIRC on the rotating presidency issues too. Maybe for the World cup format decision at a point too.

Chinese cricket fans would be ITSTL. Would likely be very prone to outbursts of hubris.

I read on here once where somebody asked "Why isn't cricket being developed in South America"?
And then the answer to that is Guyana. Which is part of the West Indies (Shvinarine Chanderpaul, Carl Hooper for example).
Oh, and Ireland for sure. Kenya in a few decades.
Too early to say for the rest but really should not be rushed in to but I am wondering why Nepal is not here?

I voted nobody.. I think test cricket will shrivel up and die except for a marquee series played by England and Australia called the Ashes every couple of years..

Take a look at the latest NZ v WI test match to illustrate my point.. 30 years ago it would have been Malcolm Marshall bowling at Martin Crowe. Now it's Tino Best, a WI opening bowler who averages 40 with the ball, bowling at Corey Anderson

That's pretty selective. Recently we've had Ryan Harris bowling to KP and Dale Steyn bowling to Michael Clarke. Your example could quite easily have been Shillingford bowling to Taylor, which is just as respectable as say a decent enough spinner bowling to John F. Reid in the 80s.

True, but then the NZ side would have had Hadlee, then guys like Fleming, Vettori.. And the WI decline doesn't need to even be discussed.. I don't think you can even compare the standard of cricket now vs. then for the peripheral nations.. Perhaps there will always be a couple of sides still producing the goods, but I don't think we need even more talent dilution

Taylor is better than Fleming and we can't complain about our bowling. The West Indies have Chanderpaul, up and comers like Bravo, and Roach is injured. Samuels has been a very solid player in recent years too.

It's pretty easy to compare two **** teams to two good teams across eras and proclaim era x was better.
