I have heard all kinds of conflicting information on this new program. I was told that only experience is taken into account, but then I was told, age was also taken into account and now I've heard different again.

So, what I'm asking is, can we have a bit of description, whats it all about, because I'm kinda confused about the whole deal here...

The reports I have heard are that it's possibly just a little two harsh on young inexperianced players.

I think I repeated this in another post today...and told every1 I have chatted with...

Age AND the number of matches count.
If a player has 10 matches 19 yrs hes worser than a player with 10 matches and 20 yrs whos in turn worser than a player with 20 matches 20 yrs.

I think this should make it clear for every1.

I assume that there reaches a stage where age sets in and weakens the performance again Sri?

That unfortunately isnt the case Marc....Old age doesnt affect a player..

Nothing against you Sriram, but why are we having a new simming program... doesn't that just mean that players are going to change dramaticly...?

1 .VC was a bit buggy.
2. The new sim stores a LOT more stats.
3. The new sim saves a lot of time for the simmers.

Maybe GB cud give more points 4 tht question!

Players wudnt change dramatically. The only BIG change is tht experience now counts as in age and the number of matches and so dont expect the youth players to be the stars now.

But that's not very realistic. If I'm 35 and I've only played 10 FC matches, how would I be a more experienced cricketer than a 19-yr-old who has played say 15 matches? If anything, matches played should be taken into account alone, not age.

Is there any way of building that in then?

I know it's a lot to ask but someone of your ability should find it easy!

Yes, but that level of cricket may be drastically less than FC standard, whereas someone who has been playing at FC level for longer would be equal at the very least.

This is a very intresting point and I just traded for a guy who at 33 has only played 10 odd games, so this sort of player is in the game... However all those that have been saying he has no experience would then be wrong if it's a combination of age/experiance, however I agree with Mr Mxyzptlk's point about it should be just on the amount of cricket they have played alone, than the age of a player.

Talking of which, I blieve from the team reasearch the Free State side has a 100+ year old in there, any chance of a trade Neil ;)

If he were 100, my retirement programme would've culled him.

Long story :)

When I first took over the side, I went through it trying to find out the players' first names, my knowledge of SA cricket being zero, and all...

So, I was not to know that W.Deacon happened to be a rookie :)

As it turned out, the only W.Deacon in the CricInfo database is:
http://www-uk.cricket.org/link_to_database/PLAYERS/ENG/D/DEACON_WS_01037149/

William Samuel Deacon
Born: 3 May 1828, Battersea, London
Died: 4 March 1903, Poynters, Cobham, Surrey
Major Teams: Cambridge University.
Known As: William Deacon

13 Matches, 22 Innings, 328 Runs @ 14.90, HS 54, 5 Ct, 1 Wicket.

So by saying this, if W.Hegg didn't retire and somewho remained in WCC even at the grand old age of 70, he'd be a star.

Old age does effect players. Players IMO, are at prime from the ages of 26-32, depending on the players. Old surely must have some kind of effect. If it doesn't then why would players retire. If a 50 year old is just as good as a 26 year old, way bother giving the game up? He might as well, make a career out of it and take his pension when he finally retire at 60...

Something has to be done about this...
