No, Hameed had the worst loss of form ever and made himself unselectable. I think he averaged under 10 for an entire season or something like that.

I remember that first innings back when he just missed a bog standard straight delivery. Four ducks and a couple of fifties in 13 innings.

His a case of being picked far too early because we were desperate. He'd had a decent half season but then struggled early next one after the India tour.

As noted above though, one of several young Lancashire players over the past decade who've done well enough to get an international call then struggle afterwards before being discarded quickly and brutally by the county.

I don't think he was picked too soon initially. He was young but had a good CC record and played well in India. He came back far too soon second time around though

Phil Hughes. The second time he got dropped was understandable given the circumstances, but it also likely never would've happened had he not got scapegoated the first time. The third time was also a poor dropping.

Mike Horn said later that was for quota requiements. I'm a Kiwi but in some ways it might have been better if South Africa had won with a full-strength team and given Australia a tougher run in the final.
