The most indispensible player in the world

Slow Love™

International Captain
A while ago, I might have said Gary Kirsten. Actually, thinking about how SAF have fared since his retirement, that was probably not a bad pick.

As to current players, I guess I'd lean towards Lara.

most indespensible is Lara..... the aussie team is so strong that no one is indispensible really.

shoaib is the most dispensable player on the entire pak team

with an attitude like his, i'd be keeping him far far away from the rest of the team

this series and the end of the aussie tour we've seen a fighting proud pakistani outfit... surprise, guess who wasn't playing?

Pakistan are doing great without Akhter, if anything I'd say Inzi.

They didn't do too bad in this recent series without him.
Other than this last Indian inning ( and that was mainly because of Afridi, but you can't expect him to take wickets like he did there), name another where Indian batting had any difficulties playing Pakistani bowlers.

Secondly, the only Pakistani bowler who seems to have done some damage to the Indian batting through out the series is Kaneria, sadly with an average of 30! And most of his wickets were of tail-enders.

And Inzamam might be an indispensible player but not more than Shoaib Akhtar because Pakistan batting is much stronger than their bowling and has a better chance of succeeding without Inzamam than their bowling without Shoaib.

Another vote for Flintoff, especially in ODIs where he is like having 2 World class players rolled into one.

Attitude problems, yes.

But mis-management of the player, yes too.

It's not impossible to bring about a change in a player's attitude. PCB, however, doesn't seem to be believing so.

Gilchrist is the most generally indispensible (read: valuable) player in the world, and the most individually signfiicant to the welfare of his team is Lara.
he is one of the most valuable players, right...but the most indispensable in an array of batting stars like hayden, langer, martyn, ponting, clarke, katich et al...i don't think so...

I do, especially when he can wicket-keep and others can't.

he is not a particularly great 'keeper...he is competent...and his greatest value to the side is that he provides solidity and class to the aussie lower middle order....

Same. Interesting that on a recent radio show, Fleming was asked if he could have any two players from the current Aust side who they would be. Fleming responded by saying although its a tuogh decision, he'd take Gilchrist and Warne !! (Mcgrath and Ponting wouldn't be far off though )
