Surprisingly quiet in here
I'm just a little dazed. I remember Silva punking Chris Leben 7 years ago...SEVEN years of utter domination. Must say I was a bit uncomfortable with his fooling around but he's always been that way..or has at least progressively gotten that way over the years. He had Weidman confused, had him off his game; Weidman wasn't even trying to take him down. Silva pushed his luck once too often and got caught.

Weidman wasn't off his game at all. Weidman dominated. Anderson may have been trying to put him off, but what did he actually land? One decent leg kick, but everything else, especially in the second, missed Weidman. He showed tremendous head movement, wasn't intimidated by Anderson, and eventually caught him out. It showcased how good a gameplan Weidman had. When Anderson is doing his matrix moves, he typically ducks RLRL, and after throwing 2 right hands, Weidman knew Anderson would sway left, and caught him with that brutal left hand right on the jaw. It was superb work from Weidman. Dominated the first round with his wrestling, and was out striking Anderson in the second. I was a bit shell-shocked watching it yesterday morning, but on second watch, it just showcased just how good Chris Weidman was. Great performance.

UFC 172 showed once again just how good Jon Jones is. Between fights I almost forget how good Jones is, but that fight with Glover was so, so impressive. The eye pokes took away from the performance slightly, but man, Jones looks almost undefeatable at this point. The way he was controlling Glover against the cage, with the wrist and shoulder control was beautiful, and his striking was seriously good, as it always is. Jon Jones is on the brink of GOAT status, only Anderson and GSP could potentially be ahead of him at this point, but with wins over Shogun, Machida, Belfort, Rampage, Gustafsson, Rashad, Sonnen, Glover and Bader, he's putting together a ridiculously good run of wins.

The whole event was awesome. Fili vs Holloway was a fantastic back-and-forth fight, Miller looked impressive once again, the scramble in the Rockhold-Boetsch was beautiful and Anthony Johnson looked absolutely tremendous. Rogan hugged his nuts a bit, but how much better does he look at 205? To neutralise the wrestling of a guy like Davis was impressive to say the least, and he blasted him on the feet. Johnson could be a real threat to Jon Jones. It's hard to handle that sort of power and athleticism.

My favourite moment from the event was Johnson's corner telling him his cardio "is like ****", Johnson arguing with them saying it isn't, and then Rogan coming on commentary and suggesting Johnson's corner were telling him his cardio looked "sick", before going on to talk about how good Johnson's cardio is at 205. Just summed up the commentary of the whole fight for me. Saying that, I still love his commentary, and there's no-one better in MMA, always sucks when Anik and Florian are on comms.

How ****ing good did TJ Dillashaw look at the weekend? No-one could have expected that. He put a clinic on Renan Barao, and beat him convincingly at his own game. A breath of fresh air in the Bantamweight division, and really opens it all up. One big question now though, will TJ and Urijah fight? Ludwig seems to believe that they'll fight, as they fight twice a week in the gym, why not get paid to do it. Dillashaw winning the belt creates quite a few intriguing matchups though, a fight with Urijah, a re-match with Barao, a super-fight with DJ and a re-match with Raphael Assuncao. Loving 135 right now!

Not sure if any of you guys are aware of the work of Jack Slack, but he's a combat sports writer that specialises in breaking down the striking techniques of top fighters. His breakdowns on Roy Jones, and Mike Tyson are well worth a read, and he's written one breaking down the Dillashaw-Barao fight, and it's definitely worth a read. Here's the link: Jack Slack: How TJ Dillashaw Killed the King | FIGHTLAND Enjoy!

Also, Daniel Cormier is looking like an absolute destroyer at the minute at 205. His last 2 performances have been so ****ing good. To man-handle Dan Henderson like that was ridiculous. The massive bodyslam in the 3rd round was such an impressive display of strength. DC is a beast, Jon Jones needs to watch his back, Cormier is a serious threat to his title.

July 6 Machida soon win win. IMHO. Weidman lucky spider, but this time luck is not with him.

Weidman's the best middleweight in the world. He'll walk through Machida like Jones did.

Sonnen thoughts? Popped for Testosterone, HGH and EPO, has retired, and been dropped by the UFC and FOX for all on-screen activities. Pretty big fall from grace for Chael P. Be interested to see if new Bellator boss Scott Coker tries to tempt him there as a play-by-play commentary, or on-screen analyst. He might be a massive cheat, but there's no doubting his pulling power, still one of the biggest names in the sport.

Cain lost his belt to Werdum. Does anyone watch MMA anymore? Pretty excited for UFC 189, well, McGregor vs Aldo anyway, but there's not really many other fights I'm looking forward to. So many cards seem to be stacked with guys I've never heard of and the lack of stars is pretty worrying. Rousey is the biggest star left now that Jones is gone indefinitely, and I guess Weidman is 2nd, but he's not really mainstream famous yet. I just pray McGregor wins, firstly because I like him, and secondly because it'd breath new life into the division and give the UFC a superstar champion.

The hype is real bitches. Conor predicted it correctly again, knocking out Mendes in the 2nd. Mendes dominated the grappling, but Conor was in a different league on the feet. You can't keep running forever Jose, Conor's taking that belt. Looks like it's going to be a while off though, Conor's signed up to do TUF vs Faber. No fight at the end, so seems a bit pointless, but should boost the TUF ratings!

Also, props to Robbie Lawler and Rory MacDonald, that fight was a ****ing war, and this gif shows how much heart Rory has:

If you're remotely a fan of MMA. Watch Dillashaw/Barao II. TJ is ****ing awesome. An absolutely beautiful performance, his footwork is completely unmatched in MMA, and the angles he creates made Barao look amateur. What a performance.
