SALE OF THE HUNDRED
SALE OF THE HUNDRED Member forums at MCC, Surrey, Lancashire and Essex have explained some of the discussions the counties are having with the ECB about selling stakes in the Hundred teams. The Hundred competition is not for sale though offers have reportedly been made. There aren’t yet firm p...docs.google.com
Not only is that fairly obvious, many international players who may have series during that period won't be available, including England this year. No matter how you try and dress it up, there are bigger leagues obviously the IPL and the Big Bash that will likely pay more. Although there are some A listers in the Hundred, I wouldn't have said it is overflowing with them. The latest scaremongering.
Future of smaller counties could depend on how Hundred investment is shared out
County matters: The proposal is for the ECB to hand around half of each Hundred team to the host county – which they can then sell offwww.telegraph.co.uk
When will the ECB learn that without top Indian players there will be no serious money coming in to this.

Do not think that that this will make it more popular.Latest news on the IPL take over:
IPL owners will be able to rename Hundred teams with minority stake
Lord’s-based London Spirit are viewed as the jewel of next month’s auction, with the owners of Mumbai Indians believed to be planning a huge bidwww.theguardian.com
Won't make a difference really. If it changes to a 20/20 it will be good. But teams need their own identity. Cricket fans and the wider public are getting used to the names now.Do not think that that this will make it more popular.
Im generally the same in regards to franchise stuff. I'll occasionally check the scorecards after or during the game if I'm awake, but I won't watch it unless it's the BBL, and I only watch the BBL for the "it's so bad, it's almost good and funny" vibes.I did watch some of the game last night and was pleased to see Saqib Mahmood play again after a horrific couple of years. Good luck to the fella. I hope he gets his career back on track.
This is definitely just my own personal opinion, but I find all franchise cricket much of a muchness. I can watch a few games here and there of IPL and the Big Bash, but I can't maintain my interest. Heck, I was even in Mumbai for the start of the IPL and the hotels were showing the games on the big screen there, and there I was with a beer in my hand...
However, after a few games in, I couldn't be bothered and I didn't much watch it after returning home to London. Then again, I think I am far less of a cricket fan than I was say a dozen years ago. For me, the franchise stuff has knocked the stuffing out of the game as a whole. International cricket, the test match game especially, is dying on its' a**e. I loved going to the Oval test match last year, and there is still a buzz when it is Australia/India there, but everyone else coming here, regardless of how well they do, are almost being told you should be grateful to us that we are inviting you here to tide you over financially. The Windies series was a case in point, turn up a week before, have a pointless 3 day practice match, get rolled and go home and thankful you were invited.
