It was just a full on crazy round. 7 birdies, 3 eagles (with 2 holes in one), 2 bogeys and a double. He's dropped 4 shots and still managed 9 under!!67,000,000/1 of having 2 holes in 1 in the same round
I suspect we'll see him about twice a year max going forward, Masters and Open. Not sure if he qualifies for the other Majors or not. Also done appears to be DJ, he's taken his LIV money and seemingly retired.Tiger has ruptured his Achilles
All bar the media & his diehard fans thought he was done before this but this is surely it
Agreed unless it’s Paige Spiranac but that’s not for the golf@social Don't suppose you watched any of that Content Creator Classic from Sawgrass? I just don't really get what the attraction is of these people. They don't seem to be funny, entertaining, and apart from Wes Bryan, good at golf. 10 mins of it was enough for me. I see some fella shot 65 on the back 9 which included a 10 at 16 followed by an 11 at 17. I don't know what his normal handicap is, but that's pretty woeful.
If I want to watch average golf whilst having a laugh, I can do it myself!!
Having watched these influencers play, who'd take tips from them? I quite liked Rory's line "I'd rather watch Sawgrass on a Saturday than a Wednesday". Amen!!Agreed unless it’s Paige Spiranac but that’s not for the golf
It was a novelty that wore off very quickly for me
As an aside, heard an interview with a respected pro recently (can’t remember who) and he said that the number of ridiculous golf theories being bandied about is at an all time high atm as people are getting tips from influencers
I had an exchange with a cricket guy recently in which I said “I played a little bit and I have absolutely no idea what you’re on about”
He tried to explain it to me and I am still none the wiser
John Daly gives pretty good tips for amateurs as it’s basically common senseHaving watched these influencers play, who'd take tips from them? I quite liked Rory's line "I'd rather watch Sawgrass on a Saturday than a Wednesday". Amen!!
I'm currently having a few lessons (an annual thing), it seems every time I do that Trackman has come up with new stats to throw out at you. Currently working on my club path angle!!
Yeah, that's basic common sense.John Daly gives pretty good tips for amateurs as it’s basically common sense
For example, warm up with your favourite club as you’ll feel better on the first tee after hitting a few good shots on the range
Or generally take too much club as length is then one less thing to worry about, bad putt is better than the average chip, etc
Really simplifies it for us average hackers
Obviously a big win for Rory but not a great leaderboardWell that certainly wasn't the greatest play off in history!! Looked a brutal wind, god knows how many water balls they'd have had on 17 if the whole field had had to play it in those conditions.
But great stuff from Rory who manages to win it on St Patrick's Day again.
I think that's often he case with The Players, you get a decent winner but the rest of the top 10 is often a bit quirky.Obviously a big win for Rory but not a great leaderboard
Quite a few big names seem to be out of form leading into the Masters
His career has seemingly been extreme highs or lows with not a whole lot in between. But then it’s hard to predict who will do well there. The likes of Pavon and Valimaki doing way better than expected.@Molehill I was uncertain as to whether Manassero had the game for the PGA Tour and that’s seems to be the case so far
I understand why he took the leap but thought that he would have been better served by staying in Europe as he’s only really had 3/4 of a good season after years in the wilderness
I watched, great to see Viktor back to form (even if he claims he's still a long way from his best). JT really should've won though, 3 shots clear with 3 holes to play and he shoots +2. That's yet another European winner though since Jan on the PGA Tour (Rory x 2, Detry, Aberg, Straka). If they were doing a Ryder Cup now, it's hard to see what team the US would select, their top players have just not hit form yet.Anyone watching this tonight, bridgman has an outside chance in these last 3 holes. Has led at some point each day. Usually once the outsiders start slow on Sunday they fade away which he did but now incoming back
Lessons have priced themselves well out of my range here (I think they are currently about $150 an hour at the local range, so probably a lot more than that with a renowned pro). If I go to the range, I can generally work things out well enough to hit it decent, but a lesson occasionally would be nice.Having watched these influencers play, who'd take tips from them? I guess it depends on who you go to, but I paid £160 for a 4 x 45 min block which is a fairly standard rate here for Club Pro's. Lesson 3 has killed me though (it happens every year and I forget). The more correct I try and make my swing, the more strain it puts on my lower back and I wake up in the night in agony. As you get older, your body looks after itself and creates a swing its comfortable with. I think I've worked out my limit now (ie how much my hips will turn) and can work on that.Lessons have priced themselves well out of my range here (I think they are currently about $150 an hour at the local range, so probably a lot more than that with a renowned pro). I used to go to Charlie Earp at Royal Queensland many, many years ago, and I think one of the last lessons I had with him was him looking at me after about 5 mins and going "do you concentrate on the course!?". It was pretty funny.
Club path angle must be either how upright or flat your club is coming in to the ball? Or am I way off?
I need to be playing more now while I can still swing it normally. I was just talking to an old golf mate (and ex high school teacher of mine) yesterday about this while I was down in my hometown, and he was saying that I should be playing more before I get to an age where you can't swing it like you used to. Will have to make sure I am getting out more.I guess it depends on who you go to, but I paid £160 for a 4 x 45 min block which is a fairly standard rate here for Club Pro's. Mind you, said pro has managed to convince me to move to a stiffer shaft with my driver, so that's an extra £135 he's getting off me. He's clearly doing ok too as he's in Florida this week playing Sawgrass and Bay Hill!!
I'm not even sure on the club path either, but it's in to out or out to in which either creates push or pull (it was push for me).
