Scott doesn't choke, he is just a relatively poor/streaky putter who happens to have just about the best swing in the game

If he putts ok next week, it's top 5

If he putts well next week, he wins by a street

He could putt badly and still finish top 25 and end up world no. 1

oh yes he does…and his mentor norman was also a multiple major winner and won several other big titles in his career, doesn't make him any less of a choker…scott still has a ways to go to reach norman's level of choking but he is certainly making good progress so far...

he is not that great a putter (or that much better than everyone else) even with the broomstick and there are ball-strikers who are as good or better than him when in form…and let's see how he does when he is forced to go back to the conventional putter before anointing him as an all-time great…also he needs at least a T-3 finish and for stenson and day to finish below him to become no: 1 after this tournament, a top 25 will not cut it...

i don't have anything against scott, he seems to be a great guy, has a wonderful golf swing and is obviously an excellent player...his association with the slime ball norman is really the only thing i find repellent…

well he has another chance tomorrow, will he mess it up 3 straight weeks? also it would be interesting to see how spieth holds up under the sunday pressure of a major, pretty impressive so far…all the contending aussies have regressed today…senden is the only one still in the red, scott will need a spectacular round to get back into contention tomorrow but bubba coming back to the field should have given him some hope…day is 8 shots back and out of the picture...

Agree with you on Norman but understand a young Aussie worshipping him

Anyway, he has ****ed himself with putting again (check his career stats- they are horrible) but should be competitive tomorrow if he holes one or 2

Yeah, have also backed Spieth, didn't put a lot on Wie or Thompson, womens golf after all, but made some. Won big on Jessica Korda earlier in the year though.

I always find the "if he could putt" he would be great argument very bizzarre, putting has always been part of the game, ball-striking is probably harder for us amateurs to do, yet it is only half the game. as Trevino said you drive for show, you putt for dough a simplification from mr carvallo there, but still apt.

If Woosnam, Vijay or Couples could hole short ones they'd have won many more majors. If Tom Watson's putting hadn't fallen away in about the mid-80s he could well have been close to Jack's record, still a great ball-striker. If Crenshaw or Olazabal couldn't putt, they'd likely not even got on their respective tours, let alone win the millions they did. If Steve Webster had a short game he'd be a mega-star rather than a journeyman Euro tour player.

Pointless, it's like saying if a striker could finish, he'd score more goals, well duh.

Nah, striking wise they're similar, Webster is not just about putting he can't chip or get up and down either. I said short game not just putting. I'm not aware of him ever putting out of his skin, his Euro tour wins tend to be when he's putting averagely, which is an huge improvement.

Scott won a Players and a Tour Championship (and other huge tourneys) when he had a very, very average short game

Scott is a way better version of Westwood

I dunno really, it's Bubba, the bloke doesn't play with a full deck, he could shoot 63 or 83. I'd say the price was about right, he could have easily collapsed after that run of bogeys, but he's still there, and a major winner

No advice from me, I have a sneaking feeling for Fowler, he's the type that can go low, or a Rose or Furyk from the pack using their major experience, giving how Kuch and Spieth have had such bad Sundays recently and Watson is a mentalist.

Should be interesting anyway. Glad I've got two of the leaders, I'll just lay-off a smidgeon in a minute and guarantee a little profit, but I don't feel much like gambling on anyone else, far too open.

At least Sergio didn't win, another guy that can't putt, he's really becoming the new Montgomerie, I really can't believe how every Tournament you get top pundits saying this will be the one he breaks through.
