THe Gabba - An International Cricketing Backwater

It was a bit tongue in cheek, but Queenstown (technically Frankton) is a nice place to watch cricket although it can be a bit cool if a breeze is blowing off the lake or mountains. I wish NZ Cricket brought in a New Year's holiday test (say 29 Dec - 2 Jan) to share between the likes of Queenstown, Nelson and Mount Maunganui. We're never going to compete with the Australian or South Africa BDT, so do something different in scenic holiday spots that attract tourists and get some free advertising for the NZ tourism board into the Indian subcontinent at the same time.

I now note with the release of the International Schedule for 2015/2016 the other day, Glorious Gabba has been restored to its rightful place in the Sun

Test match against the marque touring side New Zealand to open the Summer

Then an ODI against the powerful Indians (it will be our first Glorious Gabba ODI for more than two years) in January
