He bowled well though - I'd have done the same thing if I were Vaughan. What I wouldn't hsve done is bowl Freddy and Marmo out.
but he did gave away 9 runs in his last over

Well played West Indies, Bradshaw and Browne write their names in the history books. Shame i had to listen to Blofeld commentating on most of it as i was driving home, he really should retire.

Thought after Englands innings, WI were in the driving seat, Chanderpaul played well, but i thought England had won it, Bradshaw msut be MOM

Questions over Gough.

England carried too many players today, Gough & Solanki just don't look like contributing. I'd love to have seen the field placings because there seemed to be an endless supply of runs to 3rd man off thick edges which seems pointless when you need 2 wickets to win.

Oh yea and another century for Tresco in ODIs that turns out to be on the losing side and another incredibly irritating way England have found to lose yet another big ODI tournament final.

Dead right on all counts. Blofeld was quite unlistenable and should have been replaced years ago. Gough's performance has been iffy all summer, especially when you check out how many of the few wickets he has taken have been tailenders having a slog. Having him and Wharf in the side has left us one wicket-taking bowler short, IMO, and the sooner we bring Anderson back instead of one of them the better. Nearly all of our significant performances in ODI's this summer have come from players in or close to the test squad, and we've eventually paid for having 2 specialist bowlers who aren't remotely in that class. Shame, as we could and should have won this one, but maybe we'll learn one day.

Unbelievably brilliant match. I was going to go to sleep at 147/8, but fortunately I didn't, and witnessed the best ODI I have seen in a long, long time.

Ashley Giles must be feeling a bit left out at the moment. Surely would have made some impact with the ball given his form against WI this summer. Nonetheless, great to see WI win despite Harmison, Flintoff and Trescothick doing well, and Lara, Gayle and Sarwan missing out on the runs.

Great report Eddie - an epic worthy of the match.

Interesting that Bradshaw DID win the official MoM award, although I have awarded the CricketWeb plaudits to Marcus Trescothick based on the fact that on a bowler-friendly track no-one else managed a fifty - and Tresco got two of them.

That hurt as much - nay, more - than the penalty shootout defeat to Portugal.

Congrats to Marcus for an exceptionally good innings, and to Ashley for his support. Well bowled Harmo and Freddy, and in the end fantastically well batted Ian and Courtney. I'm approaching the stage where I can appreciate that as a fantastic partnership with exemplary cool-head-keeping, but at the moment I'm still sulking.

Worth every penny of getting Sky for, nonetheless.

Whoa ! this is awesome. I never gave the Windies a chance when the 8th wicket went down, and there they are with the trophy. What a match !!

Congrats to the Windies. The chain of events have been exactly what I wanted after India went out.

I thought we were out once chanderpaul was out and then harmison came back in i thought surely that must be it but guess they managed to pull through. Don will be delighted.

Hopefully this win will go a long way in reaffirming the faith of the Windies fans and players in their team, atleast to work towards building a more committed team for the future in both tests and ODIs. And if Windies can maintain this form to an extent till the 2007 world cup, I guess it will do wonders for the success of that tournament.

West indies have a much better chance of beating England than they do Australia.Thankfully it worked out like this. The result may well come down to the toss.
They did didn't they.I was right. It did come down to the toss. The side batting second won has as been the trend for most of the tournamennt.Just goes to show you what can happen if you try a bit harder.Hope fully they'll carry this over into the Test arena. On another note:

WINDIES WIN!!!!!!

I wouldn't say that Australia would have been any harder or easier. Also, the toss barely mattered in the end. In fact, conditions were arguably better for bowling in the second innings. Determination won that game, not the toss.
