The CW Cup: battle of the association football teams

BoyBrumby

Again, both ties run the distance. Barcelona down Villareal by 15-8 & the mighty U's of Cambridge shade Bari by 12-11. FTR I'd probably have gone with Villareal out of gratitude for Riquelme's obliging last-minute penalty choke that took us to the CL final in 2006 & obviously would've backed the amber army. Why so many voted for a wholly unremarkable Italian team ahead of them is beyond me.

35. Sheffield United v 36. Plymouth Argyle

37. Leeds United v 38. Newcastle United

Two genuinely interesting all-English affairs: t'Blades take on Langers's Argyle & Corrin's other white army () take on everyone's favourite north-eastern situation comedy.

Y no Afghanistan flag
Sheffield United in the first battle.

Mark Viduka is the key for the next battle.

He's had a much bigger impact at Leeds than Newcastle, so I'll go for Leeds.

Norwood's on Fire
In 1998, we were two up against Sheffield United, and they turned it round and beat us 3-2. After the game some ugly woman was shouting abuse at us, mate of mine shouted something back, she said why not come and say that to my face. He said, "noooo way am I coming that close to that face!". For that reason, I am voting for Plymouth.

The second one is tricky; but ultimately, Leeds are dirty, so I vote Newcastle.

Brumby, ever call them my white army again and there will be consequences :p

Rather Mad Witch
Villa is Spanish for town, so on its own could refer to any Spanish city.

Pedantic, I know.

Plymouth - on the basis that I know someone who supports Doncaster, hence can't vote for a Sheffield team
and in the delusions of grandeur battle, Leeds, for the lulz.

Plymouth Argyle. Two y's, quality letter that.

Newcastle. Place where the best ferry from Holland goes if you want to visit Scotland.

State Vice-Captain
Plymouth and Newcastle. Had good experiences with Plymouth in FM, and Newcastle simply for the name.

Plymouth in the first, because Sheffield United piss me off a lot, most recently with Chris Morgan's murder attempt which he got booked for (and complained).

The second one's real tough. They're probably my 3rd and 4th most hated teams. The world's most deluded fans versus the world's dirtiest team. I'm going for Leeds in the end because if it was actually played i'd want Newcastle to lose to a league one side, but the joke would still firmly be on Leeds because they're in league one. If Leeds win, they're both still losers.

Sheff U, can't stand them, but they're not Cornish slime.

Newcastle United, can't stand them but they're not Yorkshire scum.

BTW, i voted Bari because John Becks Cambridge were one of the worse football sides I ever had the mispleaure of watching. Can't quite forget it.
