Hazlewoods comments about the Scotland game show what we all know - the Aussies are scared of us.

As usual only the Aussie's cheating ways can stop England now.
If we were cheating we'd just do what Scotland wants

Yeah, but even weaker is backtracking on them like pretty boy Cummins has done....easy to say it was a joke now that NRR is no longer an issue.
But NRR is still and issue. As I stated in the Group B thread
If anyone thinks NRR is now out of the equation for England, guess again

As England have only batted 23.1 overs, if they bat first vs Namibia the run rate of that 20 overs will have a huge impact on their 3.081 NRR

Example, even if England score 150 and bowl Namibia out for 130 then England's NRR drops to 2.156, back behind Scotland's 2.164 😀

No it's not. For England to go through, they need Australia to beat Scotland. Even if Scotland lose by just 1 run, their NRR would drop to 1.33. There is no way now that England can beat Namibia and their NRR drop below that.

NRR is not an issue anymore, it will be decided by actual results.

Yeah maybe, but the easiest way to avoid having to worry about the NRR of other teams at all is just to concentrate on your own and winning your own games. The only way NRR of other sides becomes relevant to you at all is if you have ****ed up yourself somewhere down the line.

Ok back to Plan A, bowl Green, Head, Maxwell, Agar and David for 4 overs each and have the pace bowlers resting by just being fielders. They could even give Wade a few overs, which he's done before

On a serious note, in the Super 8's Australia have their 3 games in 4 days (June 21, 23, 24) so would be smart to rest as many pace bowlers as possible in the Scotland game

When England win World Cups, they always suffer a scare and a **** up early on. Credit it to the Team for knowing this and adopting a successful strategy.

You could argue though that the weather has potentially stopped them from qualifying without the need for NRR.

Maybe, perhaps it's just me, but I'm of the mind when it comes to these matters if you have your own house in order, you don't need to worry about what everyone else is doing in theirs (not least when there is still plenty of cricket to actually be played). Having a whine about it before it even becomes an issue is suggestive of a defeatist/loser mentality imo.

We were well and truly beaten by the Aussies but to have a game washed out against one of the lesser nations is really unlucky.

Would we have beaten Scotland, that's obviously open for debate but there's only been 1 game washed out and to be involved in that game against a weaker team is a bad break.

Who was actually whining about it though? We'd have been making the same japes if the situation was reversed.

Maybe not that many people tbf. I just saw a news item a few weeks ago where the England coaching staff were getting all uppity about it.

I didn't realise Scotland's NRR dropped so much for a 1 run loss

Anyway, England could still be bowled out for 60 and Namibia get 59. Eng NRR is then 1.25 😀

If we don’t get on then you can put this one down as heavily asterisked
Tournament played in the rainy season of Carribbean and Florida just to appease the IPL. Massive asterisk.

Cricket really needs to sort this out it's embarrassing that a major tournament can be decided on the weather. Needs to either be reserve days or more points for a win. Super overs are also a joke in a non knockout game.

Imagine if you had France and Germany being knocked out of the Euros due to rain there would be hell on.

It's not just world cup cricket. Durham had a game rained off against Notts today that could have been made into a day nighter instead of calling it off and they'd have got a full T20 in.

Game has already been reduced to 17 an over after they waited 45 mins to start when it was playable. Yet another mind boggling thing about cricket, the waiting around for it to rain again instead of playing cricket.
