Bowlers finally shine for Blues
Cricket Web Blue Preseason Cricket

Discipline from the slower bowlers was harnessed in a thoroughly impressive showing by Cricket Web Blue, as they overcame a strong Super Cup XI by 6 wickets. Demeza and Dunn were expensive, but they were effective in sharing 6 wickets. The greater damage was done by Gooljar, DeSilva and Young, however. The three kept a steady and effective line and length and were difficult to dispatch. Only Keith Hibbert, opening the batting with 68, played with any freedom through the innings.

With 182 required for victory, Pete Young dropped anchor at the top with intent to bat the innings through. His 76 not out was slow in pace, but also exactly the requirement for a difficult pitch. Mamesh and DeSilva failed to carry on with starts, but Matt Currie and Adrian Barath played well enough in the middle order to make sure it was not a harmful showing.

Super Cup XI 181 ao (45.1 overs)
KH Hibbert 68, S Khan 23
TJ Demeza 3-37, RD Dunn 3-43

Cricket Web Blue 182-4 (43.2 overs)
PE Young 76*, A Barath 32
M Dillon 1-34

Cricket Web Blue won by 6 wickets.

Man of the Match: PE Young

We try to strike a balance between realism and just plain fun. It's grown greatly in both regards over the seasons.

I can't fault you there. So this takes place like a normal cricket season? how often do you play matches? and would i have to do anything prior to a match?

First spell:

4-0-31-1

Second spell:

3-0-16-2

Considering that the second spell came at the death, that's a pretty good job. Also considering that 6 of those runs in the second spell came from a blow by the great Dave Mohammed. It also helps to note that you dismissed the legend immediately after.

Matches will be simulated and posted everyday throughout the season (barring days off between season quarters) though teams tend to have offdays in the schedule. This time around no team will be inactive for more than one day at a time though, so at the very least your team will play every other day.

On days when your team is not playing, you and your teammates will get to play Grade Cricket. Thus far performances in Grade Cricket don't affect form or skill in Dev League cricket, but I'm considering proposing it to the other half of the CWBCC (Sam Vimes) that we change that for the upcoming season.

Well I definitely think they should, or there is little point in having them.

So cricket nearly everday...sounds good!
Also, to answer your other question, all you're required to do before and after matches is remain active. Contribute to discussions around the forum and show general interest in things. Between Grade and Dev League though, you're likely to be playing cricket constantly throughout the season (barring injury).

The main purpose is to ensure that there's constant activity for players throughout the season, but it does make sense to link both leagues. It also contributes to realism. And considering a couple of changes to simming strategies that Haakon and I have decided upon for the upcoming season, it should viable to integrate Grade Cricket form into Dev League cricket.

Do the other captains read this thread? or do they check the development league where they see your sign up details?
