Teams for the FC Match vs. Cobras

Cape Cobras name strong side, Black experiment

With Ash Chaulk stuck in Beijing until tomorrow, youngster König has been handed a cap for his new side. The rest of the side is as expected, with many of the fringe FC players handed caps as Black look for new combinations after an arduous off-season.

Cobras have named a terribly strong side and are expected to take the win here, with numerous test players including Graeme Smith and Jacques Kallis heading the big names.

PLEASE NOTE: Neil Pickup and Nick Borcich haven't travelled with the squad to South Africa. Borcich is being held for contempt of court during his lawsuit against Gloria Jeans Coffee Ltd, whilst Neil Pickup has decided to stay at home and give the youngsters and fringe players more opportunity to shine.

direct correlation between the lack of Gloria Jeans in Perth and Borcich's contempt imo...lack of Tim Tam Iced Chocolate getting him down.

Ridiculous result coming up considering our simming stats compared to theirs, but anyway...

Black triumphant in surprisingly one-sided affair

In a dominant display with the bat and ball, Black's less experienced men managed to overcome a lacklustre Cape Cobras side and win by 260 runs. Shades of their pre-season tour to Australia a few years ago when Black came out all guns blazing and dominant before ending the tour poorly.

Wow! 10 for for Heathy.

Loved this over in particular:

WW1NB1.NBNBW

3 wickets and three no-balls in one over. That's cricket!

An interesting game all-in-all. A hattrick for Zondeki, with myself run out the next ball - 4 wickets in 4 balls...

Hundreds from Smith & Smith (& Stedman)

It seems the Yarpies couldn't cope with the Black pace attack.

Expecting big things from Burgey and Ritchie. I'll be rooting (:naughty:?) down the pharmacy, looking for paracetamol based alcohol replacements.

Black inexperience shows as Gibbs and Langeveldt run rampant.

After a timid First Class effort from the Cobras, the side who was beaten by over 200 runs has reversed the effort, dominating an under-strength CW Black side to record a comfortable win at Centurion.

After securing a solid King Pair last week, Herschelle Gibbs displayed his talents, belting an unbeaten hundred with little other support. Nath Patrick and Kev Gough were the stars with the ball but the total always looked a little ouch of touch for a very undermanned batting lineup.

*forgets about OD result* (face)

Seriously though, good signs from the seniors standing up against very quality opposition. Heath are Speirs also really impressive for mine. Good signs. :)

cbf posting the games. We lost in the fc game but won the the OD game. No real standout performances except Gelman took 4 in the OD and Chaulky took 7 catches in a dig in the FC game. Good all-round performances.

Regarding the pre-season for Dev League, great performance from all concerned and I'm extremely happy. Ritchie will be hot on Stedders heels for the openers spot.

Goals for the season are to make the most of FC opportunities if given a chance (internationals etc) and earn the right to bat above Dav in ODIs.
