Not going to get into any great detail here, but I (along with Pothas) was lucky enough to be at Lords for the first day of the 2005 Ashes.

The most memorable aspect of the day by far, predictably, was McGrath running through England in the afternoon.

Ordinarily teenage me would have been annoyed and pissed off at seeing the team I was supporting getting absolutely trounced. But in the back of my mind I could almost hear myself saying to myself the words "You are watching first-hand one of the absolute best ever, performing at close to his absolute best", and I realised this is probably something that very few people are ever lucky enough to get to say/see.

I doubt I will ever experience anything quite like it again.
Had very similar thoughts and feelings watching Mitchell Johnson run through us Adelaide 2013. Never pleasant watching your team get destroyed but I was also very aware of how privileged I was to be watching something so incredible that people would be talking about for years to come.

And the crowd was just in an absolute frenzy.....ive never felt such an electric atmosphere at a game of cricket.

Starting to suspect you two are actually cons under the surface...

At least my "I was there moment..." was 8/15.

My 'keeping list is purely based on glove work as opposed to 'keeper/batsmen.
I took the most interest in Ashes series and the top West Indies players so my apologies to some excellent players who I didn't follow as closely.

Yeah I remember that whole day so clearly. One of my favourite ever sporting memories which was obviously made even better by how the series then went.

ran into him on the golf course once, he was also a scratch golfer in his 70s. Too young by a margin to see him play although people say he could been an international cricketer in his 50s
Could play either right or left handed as well - both off scratch. A remarkable talent.

My father shared his experience of watching Marshall at Kanpur test in 1983. What he clearly remembers from that day even today is that he was dearly hoping for the day to end soon since he was concerned about safety of Indian batsmen.

The best days of cricket I've actually seen:

Aravinda de Silva in the 1996 world cup fina;

Sachin Tendulkar's 169 at Cape Town (tv)

VVS Laxman's 281 (tv)

Dale Steyn vs India at Centurion (live)

Stuart Broad's 8 wickets (live)
