BARNES OUT
Haha didn't we put the mockers on.
Apart from Samaraweera, I am struggling to find crap fieldsman in the test side. And he's a good cacther Vandort is a good catcher in gully. Warnapura, short leg, so cannot be crap. Sangakkara, Jayawardane in slips, not the worst either. Dilshan is among the top 5 fieldsman in the world. Vaas is still good in the field, used to be magnificient in his early days. Prasad has a bullet arm. Herath is one of those brillian fielders in FC cricket. Murali, due to age, is not that quick silver fielder used to be, but still catching is good. And P. Jayawardane is possibly the best gloveman in the world at least according to Sangakkara.Sri Lanka has some pretty crap fielders, no way are they #1.
I'd put India and SL slightly behind England.
put down the crack pipe son! Nothing wrong with Ntini's fielding. Excellent and always doing his bit ...He is one of the worst fielders in the game. He may be moderately athletic but he has zero coordination.
He is terrible for a fast bowler. Harmison is a better fielder, just by the fact he makes the stops he is supposed to. Any ball going to Ntini is a lottery.
Speaking of great fielders, we've all identified some really good ones - guys like Ponting, Hussey, Dravid, etc. are well-regarded. But everyone has a bad day and even the former three have been known to put the odd catch down and let up a chance.
That brings me to wonder - has there ever been anyone who was virtually 100% reliable with his catching/fielding? Has Jonty Rhodes, for example, ever been known to drop a catch? Did Rhodes ever have a "bad day" in the field?
There's been a few. I can't remember specifics, but he struggled at slip, particularly to the spinners, when he first started playing Test cricket and his preferred backward point became superfluous.Pretty sure I've seen Collingwood drop a catch. Can't remember what match though.
Thanks for that, needed a good chuckle.Murali is not that quick silver fielder [he] used to be
Dilshan is the only decently athletic fielder in the SL side. They're mostly good catchers, and if fielding restrictions ever allow 9 slips, I'd be sure to count SL in.Apart from Samaraweera, I am struggling to find crap fieldsman in the test side. When Evermind say ENG is better in field than SL, he must be out of his mind
Australia

England/Pakistan
West Indies
Not so sure about the sliding, but he could certainly throw.I can't say I've paid much attention to his fielding in internationals, but I remember being very impressed by Murali in the outfield back in his Lancashire days - he could slide and throw in one move, for sure.
Sometimes even when not required to.Not so sure about the sliding, but he could certainly throw.
thought that was comingSometimes even when not required to.
I was especially impressed with Murali because he could grimace, run up and throw in one move.I remember being very impressed by Murali in the outfield back in his Lancashire days - he could slide and throw in one move, for sure.
Don't know about India now. When they last toured England their fielding was beyond a joke but they improve with every series i watch them in. Yuvraj replacing Ganguly is a big plus too.I agree but India should be with West Indies
After the T20 in Hamilton last night, Windies are the worst fielding team in the world.I think Windies are definitely alongside the likes of Sri Lanka and India. Catching has been sub-standard lately for the Windies but ground fielding is good and at least
I vividly remember Cook taking some absolute stunners against NZ last summer. Absolute beauties.England have some outstanding fielders and then some shockers like Cook
