Talk up Kane Williamson all you like, and hopefully he'll be a fantastic player for NZ, but there is no way that you can say that he's a better Test cricketer than Nash at this time. Nor saying that the South African fella is a better player than Ramnaresh Sarwan, someone who I'd equate pretty similarly to Ross Taylor in terms of output.

And then to suggest that Barath, with one test century to his name against Australia already, will average 35 in Test cricket, and that Myburgh will average 40, and then use these stats to create a team average which shows NZ to have a better batting line-up?

Hurricane, mate, where has this come from? You're posting like someone else we know, and you're a far better poster than that.

And before you throw stones how about coming up with a better method of comparing the batting potential of NZ vs Windies yourselves.

I guess a more conventional method that would have been more palatable would have been comparing each batting position and saying who had the better batsman there using >< ?

In that Case

Gayle > Mcullum
Barath > Mcintosh
Sarwan = Myburgh
Chanderpaul > Taylor
Nash < Ryder
Bravo < Williamson
Ramdin << Vettori

Slight edge to NZ based on Vettori vs Ramdin.

Edit: GAGFC to the lot of you - LOL
Vettori's batting > Ramdin's by heaps more than a slight edge, the dude's averaged over 40 in the last 5 years hasn't he?

Also, how do you rate Myburgh (who's presumably going to be eligible soon) as equal to a very good proven batsman like Sarwan?

I didn't make either of those claims.

If your general message is I am being too bullish on NZ's future and posting like WW then that is true on retrospect I guess. Myburgh could be another Sinclair. Williamson may be a bust.

Points noted.

Correct on both points. I was inadvertantly posting like WW. Enough said. Lets drop this. Any more posts and I will edit the offending post to delete it.

Can we safely say that Pakistan are making a mockery of this poll now. Unbelievably poor performance from them.

Glad I voted NZ now. I thought I was being a heart voter, not a head voter. But I don't care how good your bowling attack is, eventually they are going to get sick of fielding like that.

And in batting WI>NZ>Bang>>>>>>>Pak (if only NZ had some openers...)

They are shockers.

What the hell do you mean "it means little"? so Pak only drawing a series against Aus "means something"? 8-) the bottom line is we beat a top side and won the series which is something Pak hasn'r done since 2006, you can't change the facts.

Fair call - just because they have the ability to scrape a good one off win, doesn't mean they are a better side than WI or NZ.
Just be thankful that WW isn't here to say I told you so.

My vote was that Pak = WI = NZ so I abstained from voting.

Still... no one voted for Bangladesh.

I think that it is pretty obvious that Pakistan are more likely to have a one off succes because of their mercurial (like that word) bowling line up. But that doesn't necessarily make them a better team. NZ and WI I think are more competitive with bigger teams, but would less likely take a game off them.

It's pretty obvious what the 3 teams need though to make test cricket a happier place...

PAK - 2 certain players back in the team, a keeper who can bat and WON'T drop easy catches, better fielding, and the off field situation SORTED - not papered over.

NZ - Openers and number 3 to step up, their new 'keeper to not be Kamran, a pace bowling ATTACK, and a certain middle order player to sort his **** out

WI - Again, sort out their off field issues, get their best team on the park more often than not, I reckon change captain, And just appear to care.

Actually...

BANG - Their bowlers to be consistently good (except Shakib who is pretty good consistently), instead of one good ball ever 7 overs, and their batsmen to build on their progress. Less Ashraful.

Well, Pakistan got GI MoYo back.
Now they just need Genghis and they are the clear winner in this poll.

Even just with MY in the team - they are probably the winners of this poll. If they make this victory today I am going to cast my vote for them. I think they have looked they can compete with anyone in this test. 300 against England isn't a bad go.

Without MY then you can't distinguish between the teams in this poll (except for Bangers)
