but tough on Tony Greig, I feel. His energy is always an added bonus in the commentary box, even though his views may not always be gr8.
Surely Channel 9 could just get a ****er spaniel puppy if energy was what they wanted? No doubt it'd be wrong less than Greig too.

Anyway going for Nasser in the current battle. He's got pretty much the whole package for me: witty, laconic & has a nice line in self-deprecation.

Geoff Boycott vs Ian Chappell

The Form Guide: On his way to the Quarter Finals, Geoff has knocked out such luminaries as Michael Slater and John Arlott and two tough battles. Chappelli has had a smooth ride to the Quarters, beating Bill Lawry with ease and Christopher Martin-Jenkins and Martin Crowe in round one.

Geoff Boycott

Playing Career: Obsessively dogged top order English batsman playing over 100 test matches for over 8000 runs in test matches in the 1960s, throughout the 70s and into the early 80s.
Commentating Pedigree: Well known for speaking his mind, he has commentated for virtually every media outfit that takes cricket in the UK - from the BBC to Channel 4 to Sky Sports to TMS and TALKSport.
Other: * Organised the 1982 rebel tour to South Africa
* Convicted in 1998 for hitting Margaret Moore, a former lover.



Ian Chappell

Playing Career: Integral part of the Australian cricket team throughout the 70s, leading his team from 1971 to 75.
Commentating Pedigree: Chappell pursued a media career, beginning in 1973 when he wrote magazine articles and for The Age. He did television commentary for Network Ten and the BBC before playing WSC. He has more recently commentated for Channel Nine.
Other: * Grandson of Vic Richardson, another famous Australian commentator.
