We always just used one of those Kanga balls, the fancy ones with a seam, they work the best, swing and spin!

wet tennis ball on concrette. it skids on so fast. we played a game - got rained off as the first innings were completed. the rain stopped and since we were on concrette we got strainht back out three. first 4 balls 3 wickets fall! as no one could get used to this ball skidding on

Slazenger Training Ball ~ Spins like a beast - many fingers have been hit with it.
Readers Swing Ball ~ Swings like a beast - you can bowl balls that are totally unhittable as it can swing about a metre each way
Tennis Ball ~ depending on the pitch it can bounce oddly rather than spin, batters can smack it a lot easier, more tempted to bowl flat slow ones than try and spin it. Quick bowling struggles...end up having to bowl it short to try and bowl them out on the second bounce or just bowl yorkers/full tosses.

Have never thought to tape a ball up - will have to try it :D

well i taped a ball up....couldn't really get it to swing in my small garden (can't bowl it properly) but it spun like a beast....and for the first time ever i've had a tennis ball find the edge and seam in and away at me :happy:
