Test Country/Average Combo Draft

Patience and Accuracy+Gut

State Vice-Captain
There may be better options but a look around a potential option is

Mohammad Nabi Afghanistan (31+ Bowl) stays as is

Kamran Akmal/Imtiaz Ahmed (30-35) Pakistani batter and keeper
Kevin Arnott Zimbabwe (43-47)
Michael Vandort (35-39) Sri Lankan bat - if you are specifically looking at an opener. A bigger name if you are not dead-set on an opener that fits mould.

@Patience and Accuracy+Gut
Thank you. I will take the first 2 names, Akmal and Arnott. For 35-39 averaging bat from Sri Lanka, I would go with Ranatunga.

Final 11

Len Hutton
Bert Sutcliffe
Kevin Arnott
A.B De Villiers
Arjuna Ranatunga*
Kamran Akmal+
Mohammad Nabi
Ray Lindwall
Sylvester Clarke
Tiger O’Reilly
Jasprit Bumrah

Paul Strang (31+ Bowl)

Should have gone for Rankin earlier had him penned in as my last pick - my thinking was I'd regret no Ross Taylor or Neil Harvey more even though I thought there was less chance of them being picked than Rankin

Am annoyed that I picked Rabada when I did. Should've picked Headley then (although Chanderpaul is fine) and waited for my sub 23 Saffa quick till later as both Adcock and Philander will now go unpicked.

Nature of the draft meaning a lot of good players going unpicked - Ponting a Round 11 pick! Being a 51+ batter plenty of elite competition from other nations with less depth of quality players but still Ponting would be right up there in terms of the very top tier of the ATG debates.

Adcock not being picked up surprises me a tad - would have thought he might have been picked up as an 'Other' pick.

Happy with how my team ended up overall - think its a very strong batting lineup, 3 very capable seamers, an outstanding spinner and solid supporting legspin from Strang if on a turning pitch. Also stiffens up the batting too with Larwood handy at number 9 too.

Slight regret in wondering if I could have delayed my Tamim Iqbal pick a round or 2 later although I guess I'll never know there. Also might have benefitted from a 4th seamer more than a 2nd spinner but thought Strang was a better bet than say a Mbangwa

I couldn't believe my luck when Ponting slipped through to Round 11. I had Barrington and Kanhai on standby so there was plenty of batting talent still available.

@JOJOXI thanks for running this draft. It was really interesting.

Haven't had the time to do a draft properly lately but I still can't pass one up. Gun bowling tho.

31+ bowl NZ

Was originally planning on picking the great JR Reid who was obviously a gun and if he had been already picked, my back ups would've either been Jacob Oram or Colin De Grandhomme. However, on reflection I already have Simpson and WG so have heaps of bowling and have decided upon Daryl 'the run machine' Mitchell.

WG Grace
Bob Simpson
Azhar Ali
Mahela Jayawardene
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Mushfiqur Rahim (wk)
Daryl Mitchell
Ravi Ashwin
Heath Streak
Fred Trueman
Kagiso Rabada

Very happy with this side. Insanely strong batting so would expect regular 500+ scores and a very powerful and nicely balanced bowling attack.

Just going through XIs now - will tag anyone who hasn't posted final XI but confirmation that Bitmap is correct only @Archer6K who hasn't made final pick

Haha yeah I actually picked him ages ago as well. Realised he was actually integral to making the whole thing fit.
I did this with Brendan Taylor except I overlooked the part about him almost never keeping in tests.

Meanwhile Jarquis had swept up 2 big keepers by Round 2 in Flower and Gilchrist. @Jarquis intrigued was Flower always picked as just a batter or was Gilchrist more of an opportunistic pick?
