The author shows Man of the Match data to show who are the match winners. According to that data, Harbhajan is a better test bowler than Kumble and Das is a better batsman than Tendulkar. Amazing.
The author points out some faults (some wrongly and some rightly) in Tendulkar's batting statistics. The fact is that one can write more number of weak points in any other modern-day batsman's case.
Why doesn't the author talk about Dravid's quick scoring ability in ODI, Lara's consistency, Ponting's achievements on Idian soil, Hayden's batting prowess in the 90s, Inzamam's running between the wickets etc.?..
Simple answer,...if there are 10 aspects of batsmanship, then the author will take examples of 10 different batsmen (the bests in different aspects) to compare with Sachin...
There is nothing new in that...There have been several critics who have said, Sachin doesn't play as many big innings as Lara, Sachin doesn't play as well abroad as Dravid, Sachin doesn't play as attackingly as Sehwag, Sachin doesn't play fast bowling as well as Ponting etc. etc. etc...They don't know what they're essentially conveying by saying so is that Sachin is the most versatile modern-day batsman...But "sadly, that's not another story".
