Tendulkar Autobiography Thread

bagapath

International Captain
Kumble is a self righteous, arrogant, prick. Hated the way he led india in the 2007-8 series. I never considered him above the muck most of the cricket establishment in india produce en masse. I didn't like him bringing up Gandhi's name when he was questioned about conflict of interest.

On the other hand Dravid is a real gentleman. Kept his mouth mostly shut. Didn't make lofty statements about spirit of cricket. so un- Indian in that sense. Ganguly, though, behaved like a true star. He accepted Australia's tactics. appreciated their eagerness to win the series. And he never whined.

If I were in that team I would have been bloody embarrassed if they decided to fly out of Australia in protest. I won't be surprised if we come to know that it was Sachin's idea to hold CA for ransom.

Kumble is a pretentious douchebag, agree. But I fist-pumped when he made the "only one team played in the spirit of the game". Haters can suck it, he didn't say anything wrong

And yeah, bagapath, it was Sachin and Kumble who spear-headed that entire boycott angle.

Yep Jono. Cricinfo has reported it. Tendulkar's logic is that he does not have 100% full info on these topics so whatever he says, he can't back them up. But that is like Bradman leaving out Bodyline from his book. Surely SRT could have given a few insights.
Yeah, that's pathetic from Sachin. I mean, in that case, he doesn't have 100% full info on Monkegate either. Just a weak excuse. Not mentioning any of his subsequent interactions with Azhar on the subject and just brushing it under the rug by saying "2001 was a great series hurrdurr" is stupid on his part.

More on that Ian Chappell confrontation I was talking about

Tendulkar goes on to claim that he met Ian Chappell in Durban in 2010 and had an acrimonious conversation with him. Tendulkar claims Chappell tried to take credit for the former's renewed phase of good form, implying that Tendulkar had followed Chappell's advice. Apparently, Sachin told Chappell in no uncertain terms that he had 'not changed a thing' since his low phase in the mid-2000s. Sachin also admonished Chappell for commenting without 'knowing what is going through a player's body or mind'.

Sachin also told Ian Chappell 'bluntly' that he would never like to share a dressing room with Greg Chappell again. Ian Chappell apparently tried to defend his brother, which was brushed away by Tendulkar.

First Tendulkar and now Kumble. OK guys, they are not flawless people but we are raising the bar for gentlemenliness too high. Not everyone can be Dravid. Or was he also a jerk for something?

With you. These 2 have always had genuine self-respect and fortitude, without rising to the level of ego (as such).

Yeah. Now Sachin is being a bit of a ***** about his reputation. Go the distance, little man!

haha.....Tendy laying into people is quite gun really :jump:
Tendulkar taking on Ian Chappell like that is just pure pleasure because it is so surprising :D

Sachin does have a very different persona than Dravid and Ganguly, one that seems centered around his own, slightly fragile ego (I would conjecture the kind that makes one work like mad to achieve great things). It's also unfair, and perhaps unreasonable, to expect him to have Dravid's statesmanship, given how their cricketing lives have panned out, especially their beginnings and fandoms.

Haha, can imagine Ian Chappell telling Tendulkar how he'd started batting far more positively and it led to him making runs. Funny how you are positive when you get big scores, easy to do it when you're faced 100 balls.

Followed up by "And if you'd just been doing that from the start, there would have been no slump."

In Chappelli's defence, don't think he ever had a prolonged slump, mainly because he quit relatively early. More advice Sachin should have followed, Chappelli was right again!

Bloke appeals when Tendulkar doesn't think it's out, that's poor form, a blight on the game and gets a run in the book. His mate and captain fixes matches, it doesn't raise a mention. Odd tstl.
Match fixing charges were dropped later FTR.
