Little bit too protective of your pet's position as resident funny-duck aren't you, Eddie? Bit like telling a comedian to get off stage just because he's there.

Why does eddie have a duck as a pet? That's rather 'alternative,' don't you think?

Standard reply, like Grayson's 'Shut that Door'.

No, you're right. I'm tired of any number of things at the moment. You've lived without the duck for about 4 months now, and despite the fact that I've toyed with the idea of bringing DD back, you've convinced me he's had his day.

I'll leave the entertainment to others now.

Nice to see you still have the manners of a rhino Ged. Almost came to believe you had dulled that fiery nature of yours.

I, for one, think the duck is a good laugh as almost all the members know that Eddie is just joking and most of the comments are harmless fun.

And seconded. What you don't realise is the amount of work Eddie has put into everything CW - including the duck, Mr. Ged. Now we understand that you are the typical teenager who must slagg everything or everyone that is not Michael Clarke or Marcus North off, but please show some respect to a creative man.

But don't you guys think it was a little mean for LE to tell him to leave the funnies to the duck? C'mon, shouldn't there be room for everyone to be funny?

Tatenda Taibu is a good cricketer, but IMO he appears to be far better than he actually is because he plays in a poor team.. If he was English, Aussie or Saffer he would be struggling for a place...

I'm not sure whether the post that Eddie replied to was a joke or serious - besides, I think Eddie's comment was more tongue-in-cheek than anything.

He's been here long enough to know Eddie is joking plus the :D would mean that Eddie found the joke amusing?

And would have sufficed to have explained what the duck was. :)
Plus I don't want the duck to die as it is funny. So I'm being selfish. :innocent:

1. I never disrespected Eddie.
2. I never disrespected the Duck.
3. Stop reading too much into everything.

When I wrote it I was just suggesting something I thought was fairly harmless.

Now we understand that you are the typical teenager who must slagg everything or everyone that is not Michael Clarke or Marcus North off, but please show some respect to a creative man.

And you expect it to happen with a comment like that? Come on, there was more malice in that than anything I said.

EDIT: For the record I've never had a problem with Eddie and I don't want the duck to die, either. So to misconstrue this whole debarcle into a me vs everyone debate would be a grave mistake.

Fair enough. It was late, I was tired and I went a little OTT. Sorry about that.

In the interests of public safety, government regulations now require all japes, spoofs, vignettes, skits, jokes and arsing about to be labelled. This is because Americans have no sense of humour and have to be told when to laugh. <- a joke

Many things are said on CW, and sometimes those things are said in the heat of the moment and regretted later (that's why the 'Edit' button is there). Some are said and remain for posterity or remain until Neil Pickup decides to systematically erase all the stuff he's ever written praising Fulton.

The 'leave the funnies....' quip was intended to be a jest aimed at (I thought) a quite hilarious quote by DJ Bumfluff about Taibu (one of his first posts too) : He is very short though. This is a problem that needs addressing immediately.. <- a joke, and quite, quite brilliant.

He should have left CW at that point, because nothing he ever writes again in his life will be so thoughtful, incisive and witty (a point he has adequately demonstrated over his next 30 or so posts). This is because he is South African. <- a joke, but a pale imitation.

When I am cut, do I not bleed? When I am insulted, do I not throw my toys out of the pram like everyone else? Cut me just a little slack on this one. I'm not going to can DD just because of what someone says, but if I don't enjoy doing it any more (and at the moment, let's just say I've had better years).

Now chastise me, the hapless bystander...

I knew it was a joke. 8-)

I was just suggesting that perhaps he didn't. After all, this is all a misunderstanding, isn't it? :D

Perhaps it didn't come off that way. I've heard Americans can't express their thoughts that well. At least we're not as good as the neighbours across the sea.
