Tatenda Taibu

International Coach
as a keeper hes one of the best around.as a batsman he is ordinary outside of home. he looked absolutely clueless in the ODI series in australia.none the less it was a brilliant 95 that he scored against SL.
i dont know much about his bowling skills so i wont comment.

The best wicket-keeper in the world of his age I have seen since Taylor or Knott - an exceptional gloveman. His batting is just a bonus after the important stuff.

yes i remember a commentator saying he had based his technique on a certain SRT, not a bad guy to copy

Well as Captain, he'll certainly be blamed a lot, so he's one step in the right direction...

Many people think that he's already one of the best 2 or 3 wicket-keepers in the world already.

Personally, I think that he can become one of the greatest for many years.

Even though he's so good, I feel he'll just become an underrated, underappreciated, overachiever, like Flower and Streak before him. All thanks to the team that surrounds him.

Compared to the Zim team of about 3-4 years ago, this team (atleast, judging by the names) looks hardly international-level. And that's what we thought of the other team several years ago. Sad state for Zim, I feel. It's like they're back at square one.

But with men like Taibu in the lead, maybe they've got good stuff in store.

What surprises me is he played 150 balls in his innings and still didn't manage to get to tripple-figures. Oh well, 'tis all good.

dats a SR of ~62... and that's pretty good considering that wickets were falling all around him...he had to play a solid innings, with no chances, because his team couldn't afford to lose anymore... So considering the situation, a SR of 62 if perfectly ok

best of all, taibu is a team man. he played for his team and sacrificed his 100, even though he never made 1 in odis so that his team could get some runs.

also a 96* of 151 balls isnt bad considering that taibu is the only world-class batsman in this zimbabwe team and also the wickets were falling around him.

taibu, is a useful off-spinner as well and took 8/43 recently.

Tatenda Taibu is a good cricketer, but IMO he appears to be far better than he actually is because he plays in a poor team.. If he was English, Aussie or Saffer he would be struggling for a place...

I wouldn't say that at all. He's a better batsman than Read and a very much above average 'keeper. No one is saying the guy is a great player, but neither is Streak. Both are very good players IMO, but not great.

He's my second-favourite current player (after Harmy) and the way he is leading the team doesn't surprise me too much as I have always rated him as one of those players with that bit about him.

He's not world-class batsman, though! World-class keeper, yes, absolutely, but no-one without a Test ton can possibly be called world-class with the bat.

His bowling's a mix of off-breaks and in-swingers as far as I'm aware dependent on conditions.

Amen to that

He certainly is lightning quick and reliable with the gloves and his batting will only get better with experience.

He is very short though. This is a problem that needs addressing immediately.
