Tatenda Taibu on the warpath.

Follwing his being arraigned in court on assault charges Tatenda Taibu has countered by getting the Judge to have a look at Zimbabwe Cricket's finances.

If the Harare court finds actionable irregularities methinks it will be an enourmous pie in the face of the ICC

I've been assured that the legal system in Zimbabwe is in a surprisingly healthy state (types like Mugabe have historically ruled by controlling things like the legal system) so nothing is impossible, but even so, I can't see anything much coming of this.

The legal system in Zim has traditionally remained quite independant. They have ruled against Mugabe on many occasions. However, there is little to make Mugabe follow the ruling.

The interesting thing about this is that the 2 events are completely unrelated. What has his assualt got to do with ZCU finances?

Really? That's quite interesting. Why hasn't Mugabe come down on the legal system like most other African dictators?

Must be dire enough on execution as to even worry about it's judgements. Like the local clergy issuing fatwa against Sania Mirza whenever she plays tennis in short skirts.

Well the starting point to answer that, I believe, is to understand that Mugabe isnt a traditional African dictator and is theoretically elected. This is a very important nuance of his position.

Zimbabwe had a very developed legal system with many influential and experienced members. To crush an institution like that would have caused problems at home and abroad and would have destroyed the last pretence at democracy .

I once held an indepth interview with one of the Chief Justices. Fascinating man. Very old now but still sharp and fiercely independent.

Actually the real question is why doesn't the Judiciary kiss dictator **** like in normal kleptocracies? I would not be surprised if they have a quiet agreement somewhere regarding the issue.

TBF I do not see much difference between Mugabe and our own former His Excellency, Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces, Chief of the Golden Heart Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi, except the latter was smart enough to get himself out in a win-win solution, which it seems with Mugabe has lost the opportunity to do with Tsvangirai.

Back on the case if it gets out that some third world countries Judiciary sees more evils in the Zc finaces than the people who actually pay out most of it it will ertainly be embarrassing

Teemu Taibu, what a guy. Favourite non-test-playing nation player outside of Ireland.

Ah, hows the situation in Kenya? It surely experienced a turbulent period not long ago following Moi's climbdown and a rigged election right?

Moi stepped down 5 years ago ans we are still paying for his sins being as most of the violence was based on hate speech from back in his day.

His plan was to get Kenyatta in after him right? Though the current situation looks better even though it means a compromise between Kibaki and Odinga.

True, even though the current arrangement Kenyatta is in government anyway as well as a whole load of Mps who got where they were thanks to Moi's partonage,

Anyway back on topic...
