Vs Afganistan+the way they were bowling+the fielding? won't throw the chances out of the window tbh.

You are tripping here. There bowling was looking Great to anyone but Maxwell. The way he batted was really what threw them off guard. By far the best ODI innings I saw by a wide margin and IMO the best Ever.

Watson opened in a handful of WC matches and he has a very respectable record opening and overall in WCs. (M Waugh very solid too)

TBH I could easily be persuaded to open with Watson and Warner and have Gilchrist as a number 7/floater. I'm pretty sure he'd do a better job of that than Maxwell.
