Great stuff from Bopara and Nixon, especially Bopara. I wish he could have one the game for us, he really deserved to.

This one, alongside the SA vs. SL, Pak vs. Ireland and Ireland vs. Zimbabwe have been the top four in terms of excitement.

Fair play to Bopara & Nixon and congrats to Sri Lanka. We really shouldn't have got close tho. Not too sure what to make of Fernando's aborted last ball tho. It worked, whatever his intent.

We know the semi-finalists now; only the order to be decided.

Rubbish, England are perfectly capable of winning 3/4 of the remaining games if they get some luck and KP decides he's had enough of cameo 50s.

what the hell is vaughan doing in the one day team? bopara and nixon put their seniors to shame, if a couple of them had pitched in like kp, england could have pulled off an impressive win...

Damn...thought England were going to do NZ a favour there, but as Scaly always says, when it matters and in big tournaments England crumble under pressure.

I thought Murali looked brainless in that over when the reverse sweep came out, especially after the 6. he had no clue how to adjust.

The new ball that was unbelievably taken with 1.1 overs remaining almost made the difference, it clearly came off the bat better and it seemed a bizarre decision in its own right.

Well done SL, especially the much maligned Fernando. For England, maybe Bopara's given us a glimpse of a better future, but most of the other batters deserve all the abuse that should be coming their way, either for ineptitude or sheer stupidity.

Ah I wish they won it just so that I could rub it in to you.
Feel you have due reason to anyway. (Though I guess you didn't think they would come this close at 133/6. That was the kind of collapse I imagined, though I hoped Colly would have stuck around a bit longer... *sigh*)

Waits for your post match excuses. Hope they are as good as after the NZ game today. Please don't let us down

Wht is Bopara batting so low? First time I have seen him and he looks much better than a number 7

Gotta love that optimism. Can do, but we won't. Our top three is just too cack for words & Fred seems determined to prove that it isn't only tests that #6 is a place too high for him.

... which is why a few of us can't work out why he's rated above Ponting, whatever the stats might tell us.

But no, we're not perfectly capable of winning 3 out of 4 when we're reliant on 3 batsmen.

I agree. Whilst they have improved, Day in Day out, England aren't quite up with Aust, SA, NZ and SL at oneday cricket.

Oh definitely, another of the endearing things about WI cricket culture.

Another great thing about the Bopara/Nixon partnership was that they only took about two real risks.

Bopara's the man of match, personally I'd have given it jointly to Bopara/Fernando.

edit: poor Bopara looks a bit downcast. :|
