Sunil Narine's action reported (not to the ICC)

WW, I think you are looking at it the wrong way. The ICC doesn't treat chucking as an offence like, say, drug breaches. When someone is called for chucking it means their action is unsuitable and therefore they are banned from bowling until they fix it.

The reason I say this is different to punishing players is because they aren't banned from playing; if Ali was found to be a chucker England would still be allowed to pick him to bat at 6 (we probably wouldn't, but)

So with Ashwin, as he hasn't bowled like that since, there is no punishment to be had. He could be told not to bowl like that again but as he hasn't done since anyway it's immaterial.

Does Narine not playing the India series mean he's going for testing?

If he's not then I don't want to bring out the obvious reason WI would have for resting him but it does seem pretty obvious that they're not very confident he'll pass.

I'm pretty sure the WICB press release said he was getting testing done, but I'm not sure who by. Either way, Narine needs to get his action checked sooner or later, because the way things are right now he won't be able to pick up his IPL millions next year.

Believe me as a WI fan and a big supporter of Narine i would be very disappointed if Sunny doesn't head straight to Australia in the next few days and gets this whole thing sorted out. Imo he should go to aus, get that action cleared, come back to the Caribbean and play for Trinidad when the new first class season starts shortly so he can be get some games under his belt before the SA series.

If he were to be cleared within the next few weeks though if i was a selector i'd call him back for the India test so the lad can get some redemption!!..

Fair thoughts. Now post like this more often.

Personally, i hope he's done with the IPL now...don't bother going back Sunny, some people over there have really screwed the lad big time and the silver lining for us could very well be that Narine will finally realise who his real friends are.

In a perfect world he'll go and get his action cleared, focus on WI and the CPL in the near future and if he has to go abroad and play then i'd love to see him have a run in county cricket with a Glamorgan or Kent (their coaches both have wi links)..but considering Ajmal was there recently maybe that wouldn't be a good idea!! :D .

Trust me i fully agree with everyone saying he should be checked...the cloud will be hanging over him if he doesn't get it done and in turn it will only effect his performances and our chances of winning games. Get it done Sunny and put this thing to bed.

Yeah, he's definitely gonna voluntarily turn his back to millions of $'s. He was rejected 'cause he's a rule-breaking chucker.

Man up and accept it.

When does the West Indian domestic comp get back underway?

Does Narine play much FC stuff at home?
It's about three weeks away. In the past he's played two or three games for Trinidad per season and left for the IPL. He never played a full season for them. The changes to our system with it starting late October/early November meant that the IPL wouldn't have gotten in the way anymore but that could all be in vain now as i have doubts he will go back after this.

So realistically he could get tested over the next few weeks, if cleared he could then come back to the Caribbean and get some games for Trinidad to keep himself ticking over ahead of SA..if he's not cleared then of course he would have to address the issues discovered and i guess that would rule out SA aswell.

Yes it's been confirmed that Narine will be tested

MUMBAI, India – The West Indies Cricket Board advised today that Sunil Narine has been withdrawn from the touring party for the upcoming series against India.

This came after discussions including Narine, the WICB Selection Panel and the West Indies Team Management. The withdrawal from the upcoming tour will allow Narine the opportunity to have his action assessed and plan his return to cricket.

I guess we'll have to wait and see now.

yeah difficult time and i know what it feels like as a fan( i was a huge fan of satchi) but if the tests come back showing an illegal action then all we can do as fans is feel disappointed and accept the decision. We hope that these guys(i.e those who fail) will get remedial work and return to top level cricket again soon..

As much as I reckon Narine is a chucker the treatment he's received from the BCCI in the CLT20 tournament is a complete joke.

An interesting post about Narine i saw on pakpassion

That is not a process. They called him once suspect by the naked eye. So then when he bowls again, what is likely to happen? They using the same method to determine to ban him. There no real justification. All they are going on is based on what they see which is not a scientific method.

Its like the law. You cannot have two trials for the same crime. It should be same here. Once you are on suspect list, after tournament get yourself tested and see if you can stay on. Just very suspect they ban him before the final against the team whose President's son owns.
Now having done a little research..i may have my facts wrong but it appears a former or current president of the BCCI's SON IN LAW is connected with the Super Kings?!! :-O

HERE is an article about the president and his son in law!!...i'll let others make their own judgement.
