Who's the Aussie bloke doing commentary? I haven't paid much attention to the matches in the Group of Life.

Safe to say bowling speeds are peaking the world over. Plenty of guys bowling at 150 kph.
I think the real noticeable thing is how much faster the average bowler is. I don't think the fastest bowlers are faster or even really that there are more express bowlers, but bowlers like Woakes regularly cracking 140 isn't something that just didn't happen before. It seems relatively easy to get most professional bowlers to do that these days.

This hand off the bat shot...is there some twisted logic to it? Always thought his hand slipped off the handle but it happens with unerring regularity to be accidental.

I met his mum on a bus in Darwin after Australia v Bangladesh in 2007. We had a lovely chat the whole way from the stadium to the suburbs, talking about Shane and his hopes and dreams, and the vicissitudes of his cricketing life. Jamie Siddons was huge influence on Shane's batting she said. Bangladesh were in good hands with him at the helm she said. She said it's been hard for Shane with all the injuries because of the bowling, but he doesn't want to give up the bowling; because he really does love bowling! she said.

Some years later he made a century in a test match and they panned to his proud mum applauding in the stands. To this day, I have no ****ing idea who the old biddy on the bus was but she definitely wasn't the woman on the screen.
