Such a shame you hate me @Smudge as well, who is praying for me to leave

I’m really not the person you assume me to be

if you wish and enough people support you, then the moderators can tag me and I’ll confirm my account to be deleted

I hate animosity but it appears that’s all I inspire

so there you go get a majority in favour and I’ll get my account deleted

@James - I was searching through a few old posts earlier and found a couple that I was going to react to. However, anything in the Archive Forum can neither be replied to or liked/reacted. I can understand that not replying element, but I'd think that reacting to old posts should be fine. Is this something that could be changed?

Unfortunately not possible no, a forum is either writable or read-only. There's nothing in-between as far as I'm aware or can see.

I do wonder though whether threads within a tournament/series particular sub-forum should be merged into Cricket Chat afterwards rather than archived away.

Interesting. I assumed that was likely to be the case. Any reason these days why the archived threads need to be completely locked down these days? Could they be, say, locked down and only posted in by members or members with over X posts (to prevent there being more threads for the spambots to spam)?

But yes, there are some threads in some of those archived fora which are more generic - such as http://www.cricketweb.net/forum/threads/why-is-that-still-a-thing-champions-trophy.94790/

That's a good question and I don't have a good answer to it to be honest. It's just the approach we've always taken which doesn't necessarily mean it's the best option now.

If the mods and the community at large are in favour of a different approach, I think it's certainly something worth looking at.

I can understand why it's the way it is - we used to have a group of people bumping old threads for little or no reason and then we've had spam bots see a word like "curtains" and think this is a forum for drapery enthusiasts. But also those archived threads are a bit of a repository for opinions we held in the past and how they may have changed in subsequent years (or decades in some cases!)

That's a good point, but no different to old threads in Cricket Chat really I would suggest.

And yes the bots :wallbash:
