Stumped!

GG CC played league leaders today and were bundled out for 95 in 29 overs.

As you would have guessed, the pitch was a minefield. Wear 80; speed 51; cloud 89.

Not a great day to play cricket....So they had to get only 96....

Our bowlers made them work for it...a slow grind. We took 7 wickets and they got to their target in 36 overs

International Coach
A very strong contribution from Ollie Smit got AXI to a reasonable total, and a win vs Winton. He followed it up with a fifty against TMO, backing up Simmonds' hundred quite a nicely. Good that he's finally getting some runs, in a couple of nice wins.

Well done ZCC!

ataraxia

International Coach
Anthony Davidson hit 120* (81) against AXI to get a win from way behind, with the RRR hovering at 8 with 20 overs to go. What a player! Coming straight after a couple of golden ducks though lol, still very inconsistent.

We're midway through S31. Currently, Raun Shkorer is the leading batter; despite a couple of plops he has 875 runs at 62.50 and 109.10 SR in 18 matches. He's closely followed by Peter Sutherland (848 runs at 56.50 and 142.28 SR in 20 matches). Jamil Gul (!) is the leading wicket-taker, with 47 wickets at 10.77 in 22 matches.

What does 5DN1L actually mean?

Huge DEV win today. Without it the season would already be over. My 39 and 37 ability opening bowlers didn’t do much but Ghous floated down his 18 rated leggies and held an end up to keep them to a chase able target. The 9/8/12 guns-ho superstar Gert played a nice little cameo to get use within touching distance and the tail squeaked us home.

Updated after 6 matches. 2 wins and 1 loss. Giving a 3-3 win loss ratio.
All 3 games where away. First game against GG CC, again on a toughish pitch batting first unable to score sufficient runs and GGcc chasing down the 200 run target in the 46th over. TMOs out rating GG cc by just less than 7000.

The two wins came against Moooo and Winton CC, TMO out rating both teams by 9500 and 10 000, respectively. Both innings the TMOs put up an impressive score of 290 and 350, respectively, on slower pitches with little wear. Against Moooo Davidson scored a good 50+ with, Kock and Ncanana closing out the innings with some aggressive batting. Against Winton it was mostly the Davidson show scoring 155 in 100 balls. With a fine knock from Mthombeni and Thundayal in support. Burger taking 4 against Winton to bring his bowling back in to a respectable range. But still not consistently performing when needed for a bowler of such high quality.

3 more games to go, 1 Saturday away against the Astronauts @Marcuss and 2 Sunday home and away against @ataraxia .

A more detailed analysis is planned following that, that includes tracked BQ both for the TMOs and opposition, a look at experience and stamina, and overall team ratings.

Final update after 9 matches. Additional 2 losses and 1 win. Giving a final win:loss ratio of 4:5.
The final 3 matches where away to the Astronauts on Sat, followed by a double header against Ataraxia first home then away. Against the Astronauts, TMOs had a slow start followed by a few quick wickets, left a rebuild to the middle lower order. Kock steadied the ship with Badenhost and Ncanana provided a few lusty blows to eventually get the TMOs to a score of 212. Azam scored a fine 85 to allow Bilal and Goonewardene to quickly finish the target off in the 43rd over. TMOs out rating the Astronauts by around 1400.
At home against Ataraxia, the TMOs top order struggled again to get any traction, Thundayal scoring an 85, supported by Levy and Badenhorst. Few blows at the end by Ncanana eventually achieving a score of 211. A fine century innings by Simmonds and support by Ollie Smit eventually leading to an easy win by ataraxia chasing the target down in the 44th over. In the second game away to atarxia, who chose to bat first; a fine opening stand between Dee and Simmonds allowed some late innings aggression and ataraXIa put on a formidable 274 runs in their 50 overs. Guliwe being treated particularly badly. TMOs in response produced a slow but steady opening partnership, holding Ludlow off long enough to dent the new ball. This however was followed by a masterclass innings by Davidson of 120 off 81 n/o balls that almost single handidly took TMOs home for an unexpected fine win, Kock and Ncanana producing a few extra blows resulting in the target being chased on the 49th over.
TMOs slightly out rating ataraXIa by about 700.

Thank you to @Marcuss and @ataraxia for some great games.

Some additional info for those interested. This was the orders given for all 9 matches.

TMOs out rated all opposition except for the first match against ZCC. For the first three matches, TMOs rating was identical. For the first match on Thurs (against GG cc) before 'coaching' ratings increased by 150, only observed changes was Levy touch dropping from 11 to 10, and Mthombeni touch increasing from 9 to 10. It further increased for the other two games that day, with the only know effect of Mthombeni experience increasing following the coaching session. No other increase was seen in any other players (however the system could have had some changes not resulting in integer changes). It dropped gain (by 100) for the first match against Astronauts, with touch increasing for Badenhorst, Kock and Davidson to 7, 10 and 11, respectively. Ratings went up against ataraXIa when Davidson touch went up to 12.

TMOs had an average BQ greater than all opposition for all 9 matches except the final one against ataraXIa (Guliwe dropped to an unexpected 2.3 in the final match). The avg BQ across all matches for TMOs was 6.6, opposition avg was 5.5. Burger had the highest BQ in 7 of the 9 matches, of all the bowlers in the match. The two times this was not the case was when Passmore had a higher BQ rating. Burgers (lowest wicket taker) touch was 15 for all the matches, de Klerks (highest wicket taker) touch was 9.

TMOs had 8 'unlucky' outs, 6 of these was Levy. Opposition had 4 unlucky outs, two of these was in the final match against ataraXIa. All the top 7 batsmen scored at least one 50 in the matches, Davidson scoring 2 centuries. 3 ducks in top 7, two by Davidson one by Kock.

I think you've got a bowling system that clearly works, it's just your batting perhaps needs more consistency and stability up top
