Stumped!

Cheers. And where’s a good place to leave it? MF or FM good enough
depends on your team and home pitch, and the trainee as well. You obv want them to be as close to their potentials as possible, so sometimes maxing out pace isn't an option. ZCC and FHK both play on pretty quick decks, so the more pace the better for us, but I've got a few trainees who had to stop at FM so that they could work on other skills.

The stumped forum seems to indicate that faster is better overall. You trade off accuracy and extra runs, but do take extra wickets. My best accurate bowler I am leaving at FM. But all my other bowlers I`m taking to FF. You do want a mix of bowlers available for different conditions.

Thanks guys. Few of them have economical talent if that makes a difference. Will see how fast it trains and judge from there.

I read on the forums that extra pace is harder to hit i.e. more economical. Which seems counter-intuitive. How hard is pace to train? Because it hasn't increased very prominently when I've trained players on it (admittedly not much).

Bikswing Nouding will be a very good player for FHK. Being old, very expensive, and with two somewhat bad traits for a new-ball bowler, I can see why no one wanted him. But with a homegrown, wages don't matter. And I suppose you consider Big-swing No-ding a homegrown player even if his career didn't start at a cnerd club.

So I got Burger from a below 120 km Medium bowler to a FM 130+ in a season and a half, and an accuracy from 8 to 13. Passmore went from a MF to a F (145+) in a season. Viljoen who started as a FM got to a 150+ in a season and a half. If you concentrate on it you can probably get a young bowler from M to F in two seasons, while still working on their other skills in between.

I`ve got my squad open, for those that want to have a look at the players.

FHK has two policies

1) Develop youngsters from our academy

2) Put in a $1K bid on any player leaving ZCC, so that if they go unsold they can potentially further their career at FHK.

Not sure if Bikswing will stick around FHK for very long, but he'll get a few games to show his worth. We're actually considering trimming the squad soon anyways - got a few Dev kids who are basically senior team regulars, so want to give them guaranteed spots in the senior sides and open up space for the next gen to get some exp.

A quick look at your squad reminded me what a gun crop of youths you have!

I have two pace trainees. Oakes is on Pace, Ludlow on S/S/S. Ludlow's RFM but about 0.5kph shy of RF. Maybe I should push him up there.

I picked up some early good batting youngsters, started with a top seaming youngster and otherwise tried to buy cleverly, with limited success. Biggest challenge I have is getting Coetzees bowling up enough to become a consistent allrounder.

With so many players to urgently develop I can't imagine how you coach your coaches, lol. It's definitely a side that will in a few seasons be pushing on 65K. The annoying part about getting a lot of good YPs is that you're forced to shaft the mediocre Dev players you love!

I bought coaches early in my first half season and was sending them on courses throughout. I had a fielding, batting and bowling coached up to 10 by end of first full season. (also groundsman). I have taken them to 12, and the fielding coach provides extra batting support of 6.

Not the best first spell in FHK colours for the ZCC veteran! TBF pitch is a nightmare for quicks.

So FHK slightly understrength today. 3 changes to what our best XI would be - the two Michaels and LOY rested. Bikwswin, Andy Li and TTC take their place.

Takeaways so far

1) Andy Li not quite ready to be 2nd spinner, even on helpful decks
2) Bikswing Nouding might not have a long career here - the 5DNOL surface really does not suit him

Shum's been superb, single handedly keeping TMO run-rate in check. With 10 wickets in hand entering the 2nd half of the innings, the time is now for the visitors to launch and look for a score around 280-300.

I hope TMO middle and lower order can make something of this top start. Need to get to 300+ on this pitch.

Kock was asked to be a bit more defensive in case TMOs lost an early wicket. Hopefully he has enough experience to know the situation needs a bit more aggression?!

195/4 in 40. Good recovery, but the platform is still there for a 275+ score

Lester Shum 10 overs for 20. What a spell. Where was this in the CWC3 Semi Final ;)
