That's the global cup. Runs every 2nd Sunday, straight KO competition with the top 256 teams. If you're lucky you'll draw a bot in R-1, then a weaker human side in R-2. ZCC play Morpork in this later today.
Decent week for ZCC. Won in the Dev and T20, but narrow loss at home in the SOD. Sent in to bat first, got to 181/3 in 37.4 overs, but our middle order let us down again and we finished with just 228/8. Bowled decently but did not have enough runs, and they got there with 4 wickets and 4.3 overs to spare. Haven't gone through the comms yet so dunnow if we dropped any crucial catches, and if we lost wickets to good balls or bad shots. Still a disappointing loss, SOD record now read 3-1-2 and we're in the relegation zone. Sigh. On the bright side, good wins for ZCC both in CWC2 and CWC3 yesterday. Beat FHK to secure first place and a semi-final vs Schmaltzberg, and beat a strong ataraXIa side handily to climb into 5th place in CWC3. Big Cup game vs Morpork coming up, will need to rest Heshan de Mehlo as he's exhausted from his century + 46.3 overs of wicketkeeping yesterday. Should be a full strength side apart from that.
FHK have had a horrible week. Started well with a bot bash in Dev, but then lost at home in both the T20 and SOD. Our Div 2 senior cricket record this season reads 6-1-5. Not ideal. We really need to secure promotion in Dev because it feels like relegation in either the T20 or SOD is extremely likely. A poor week of league cricket was followed by losses in both CWC games, both also at home! Beaten handily by ZCC in our final CWC2 league game, then bowled out for 90 (!!) by Morpork in CWC3! 4 losses on the trot at home, with a 5th game today in the cup. We have a chance to redeem ourselves against a team ranked 258 in the world. Fitness issues are a massive concern though - playing a human team in the Dev tomorrow, so can't be exhausting my key players.
Both CWC 2 semi finals should be this Thursday, setting us up for the grand final on Saturday. Hype.

Hoping the players can put a good score on the board - there's not that much assistance in the track so we'd rather play our own natural game and see what it gets to. If Marita and one of the other top-5 batsmen are there at 30 overs then we have every chance of piling on the runs at the end.

Spinner does the trick after the seamers and fielders have been tying them down. Can't complain but still sucks
