Listened to Cricinfo’s Switch Hit show take on this; surprised how pro-Stokes they were about the incident. George Dobell was almost gushing in praise with how Stokes acted (what odds he would take a different view if an Australian player had been in the same situation?)

Everyone knows by now Dobell is a partisan hackfraud with his head so firmly buried up his arse you'd need a drilling team led by Aaron Eckhart just to recover him.

I consider his terrible writing to be ancillary to this main trait. Besides, I think something that has been lost in all of this is the fact Hales and Stokes were out at that hour of the morning during an ODI series in the first place. The loutish behaviour aside.

His pro-Stokes line has also continued on his Twitter feed, much to the bafflement of pretty much everyone who responded to him on Twitter. Doesn’t even think he should lose the Vice-Captaincy.

I don’t mind Dobell usually; I don’t always agree with him but I respect his opinions and he usually has interesting things to say but this attitude is just baffling.

Like I said, I got no doubt he would've reacted differently had it been an Australian involved. Indeed, here's his reaction to the 2013 Root/Warner mess (where he says Root was generous in not getting the police involved):

Dobell and Brettig should make a good pair... Both have buried their faces into their respective boards and players' asses. At least the Indian crapinfo crew have got their favorites and try to undermine others. These guys just toe the party line.

Brettig is definitely friendly with the Australian players (maybe overly so) but I don't see how you could say he's pro-CA after he was one of the most strident critics of the CA approach during the pay dispute.

EDIT: And I reckon he would only be friendly with some Australian players and particular not so friendly with some former Australian players based on what was revealed in Whitewash to Whitewash

Yeah, you are right. I should have said he is pro-Aussie players. But then again, he is anti CA mostly only when it comes to the players/ACA Vs CA but otherwise, meh.

While George Dobell's attitude on this Stokes issue may have caused a raised eyebrow or two, I do agree with elements of it, and also I think he's one of the better writers around on Cricinfo, specifically when it comes to county cricket.
