He was pretty awful on Sri lankan soil as was his brother. Steve has one below 40 country plus one awful one. Sanga has three below 40 ones but none awful. Given Sanga has 7 run advantage I would go with him.Very tough. Sanga more aggressive.
But Waugh was top notch against the best attacks in his time away from home in a way that Sanga wasn't. I go with him.
Yeah but Waugh succeeded against the 2WS in Pakistan, Walsh and Ambrose in WI and Donald and Pollock in SA all during their peak.He was pretty awful on Sri lankan soil as was his brother. Steve has one below 40 country plus one awful one. Sanga has three below 40 ones but none awful. Given Sanga has 7 run advantage I would go with him.
You do remember that series where Waugh collided with Gillespie? And also he played only 3 matches there, it's like saying Lara has a poor record in India. He was pretty awful on Sri lankan soil as was his brother. Steve has one below 40 country plus one awful one. Sanga has three below 40 ones but none awful. Given Sanga has 7 run advantage I would go with him.
This is so wrong
He missed only one innings. In all other innings he was struggled and was poor. Other matches were against all time low Pakistan. Even they managed to nail him cheaply. You do remember that series where Waugh collided with Gillespie? And also he played only 3 matches there, it's like saying Lara has a poor record in India.
But he played well against Akram and Waqar in 1994 Pakistan tour, as far as spinners are concerned he played peak Harbhajan and Kumble very well.He missed only one innings. In all other innings he was struggled and was poor. Other matches were against all time low Pakistan. Even they managed to nail him cheaply.
But, but but . . . you can give a load of explanations. But he played well against Akram and Waqar in 1994 Pakistan tour, as far as spinners are concerned he played peak Harbhajan and Kumble very well.
This is Migara’s first post in any comparison thread these days. This is so wrong
At least he used the Test charts this time. This is Migara’s first post in any comparison thread these days.
Tbf Sanga was middling in England and his +40 average there flatters him. Average in WI though was arguably a result of small sample. He was pretty awful on Sri lankan soil as was his brother. Steve has one below 40 country plus one awful one. Sanga has three below 40 ones but none awful. Given Sanga has 7 run advantage I would go with him.
Do you apply this to Border as well? Interestingly, his RPI is actually worse than Chanderpauls.Waugh hiding down at 5 and attaining 85% on the Chanderpaul scale of How Not to Shepherd the Tail meant he didn't contribute as much to his team with the bat as his ability warranted.
If you're a 50+ averaging bat but scoring only 40 runs per innings you're doing something wrong.
Lol @ hiding. He played a specialist lower order role in a very strong batting lineup.Waugh hiding down at 5 and attaining 85% on the Chanderpaul scale of How Not to Shepherd the Tail meant he didn't contribute as much to his team with the bat as his ability warranted.
