Vaas desrves the place but not Jayasuriya. Senanayake and Dilshan Munaweera missing from that list. They are easily in the best 30 ODI players SL has

Agreed on Jayasuria, he is not doing the side any favours by sticking around. Is someone frightened to drop him?

And a favourite of the President. That will explain the reasons. Aravinda has not shown that he has many brain cells by dropping Senanayake, Munaweera and perhaps Kulatunga for the 30 man squad, but I am sure he has enough balls to drop him from the final 15.

He was express a while back, but definite brisk fast medium now. There are no fast bowlers in that squad other than Fernando on a good day and untried Nuwan Pradeep, whop bowls in upper 80s, some time going up to 92-93mph. And most of them are frank medium or medium fast bowlers.

Reckon it's a bit harsh to call Fernando and Malinga "medium" pacers though. Both are spritely enough.

This is a very strong squad. Arguably the strongest 30 man squad for the WC. A very good chance to take the WC. Interesting to see who will make the final 15. Definitely one of the favorites to take the cup.

No chance they are going to pick uncapped players for the WC, and pretty stupid if they do tbh. Pradeep should not make the final 15 either.
Same reason that Mendis wasn't picked for the 07 WC.

It's not about whether they are picked for the final 15. But Senanayke and Muaweera are good enough to be in that 30. By not picking they were given a negative signal for their careers. And remember that Senanayake was not even selected for the BP XI against WI, despite being the best spinner in the country.

A very strong side. I still really rate Mendis, the top four and Murali are excellent and there's balance there with Matthews and Perera.

Shame there's no room for Chandimal.

Cant believe Herath got in ahead of Randiv.
Same old full time passengers make it once again, Kapugedera, C.Silva and Fernando:dry:

Would have preferred another opener other than watching Tharanga going on his adventurous fishing expeditions outside his off stump but since no one else is ready/available...

7) Perera- but I am not sure if he is a good enough batsmen to be that high, then again neither is Kapugedera or Silva and at least he can bowl a bit.

There are few passengers there. Kapugedara should not be doing anything in the first XV. Cahndimal should have been the replacement. Herath has shown nothing that he's better than Randiv. Vaas should have been selected over Chamara Silva.

Simply, for SL, Bye, Bye World Cup.

I suppose Vaas' exclusion is questionable, but otherwise the team seems to be quite strong.

Decent squad. 15 players is too few for a World Cup. Players who are carrying injuries or haven't played much recently could be seen as a bit of a risk and therefore not selected when choosing between 2 players.

I think the squads should be at around 18 players but with no further call ups possible during the tournament.
