I can't see any manager who is serious about keeping their 1st XI spot using that tactic and running the risk of losing 1st XI matches and maybe even their job. Really for a significant boost to a players average they have to play the whole the season. One or two games here and there wont achieve much.
You don't understand - managers don't need to play their entire 1st XI in the 2nds. They can play 2-3 players in the 2nds and still win games in the 1st XI competition.

I get what your saying, but lets say at the Colts we play a couple guys that don't have many games like Chawla and Abbasi in 2nd XI to booast their games and stats. That would just be stupid as they our best two OD players and probably our best chance of winning the comp. I doubt too many sides would even have the depth to drop two or three of their top players and still win games.

You wouldn't drop your best players....
You'd put in the ones who average in the low 30s with the bat for instance...that way they'd end up getting better averages...would work especially for the less experienced members of the squad.

is that cheating the system though, anyone who averages in the low 30s would be fringe players anyway, wouldn't they?

Simon in Lancashires first class stats, Mongia is listed as having SR of 45 which agrees with the stats from before but he is listed as an economy rate of 3.53 (which is the same as Munir the player below him) when in the updated player stats from before he has an ER of 2.32. Is this a typo? It makes quite a difference.
Any news on this Simon?

Western Province will play their best XI in the first XI. We wanna win the premiership... Averages mean nothing.

Yeah i don't why people are thinking that far ahead to try and boost averages for next season (who knows whether there will be a next season). Surely the main objective is to win the premiership this season and see what happens from there.

But one option to try and stop people going this at the end of the season when they may have nothing to play for is to ask Board permission to drop a players back to 2nds if they played more then 10 1st XI games.

Also for the guys who were considering dropping guys that have averages in the low 30s, to boast their averages, its a waste of time. As really if you want a decent side you need guys with 50 plus averages, not 40 or whatever.

I don't think 2nd XI should count towards averages. I don't see the logic behind it at all.

Academy Stats counted towards FC Stats, so i see no reason why they shouldn't. Also South Africa 2nd XI games or Provincial A games count towards FC Stats so it does happen IRL.

I guess that the other thing is that you'd have to make a completely new database for 2nd XI games otherwise to ensure that they wouldn't count, or something like that.
