There seriously has to be questions about Temba carrying on ODI cricket with this Elbow problem. If he was high class and stroke-making came effortlessly he could maybe get away with it but he isn't that.

Test cricket, I'm willing to be more patient and it would be a blow if he wasn't available for Lords along with Maharaj.

That decision would probably be easier if they had BA to replace him with. The politicos will want a ba leading us into the 2027 home WC.

Looking ahead to the test championship final what should the team be,?
should Dane keep his place ? it would be harsh to drop him after his last 2 tests, and his experience of English conditions is a bonus,
do they play Mulder in a 5 man attack, or rely on a 4 man pace attack, is Maharaj going to be fit ?
if Mulder plays with Verreynne at 6 who misses out Rickleton. de Zorzi Bedingham or Stubbs, assuming Bavuma and Markram are fit,
thoughts any one.

Mulder will definitely play, shuks has made comments that he considers him the most important player to balance the team. rickelton is undroppable after his 200 so will play. de zorzi miss out if everyone is fit, if temba isn't he bats 3 and everyone else shifts a spot down.
Paterson/Coetzee comes down to the pitch, shuks does like pace.
For now I presume keshav will be fit.

1. rickelton
2.markram
3.stubbs
4.temba
5.beddingham
6.mulder
7.verreyne
8.jansen
9.keshav
10.kg
11.paterson/coetzee

111* for Kyle Verreynne in first CC game of the season for him for Notts.

Does he get the credit he deserves. 4 test hundreds and runs under pressure when needed. Think he can go from strength to strength and be considered the best wicket-keeper batsman in the world for test cricket.

Shown adaptability around the world to score runs is also impressive and a 50+ FC average over a long period of time.

He has most definitely nailed down the keepers spot for the foreseeable future, and he can go on to be a great for the Proteas., only time will tell,

I think his relative slow start to international cricket and his awkward technique has to do with that. He has the mentality for it and will score loads for us.

Do we feel we can fit Kyle and Pretorius into the same side. Way Pretorius is going won't be long before they have to start thinking of picking him.

Don't see why not. The competition his heavy of all of a sudden in the batting department. So many players ready to burst on the world scene in a big way. We can get him fielding first slip like Biff. You look at him and you feel he must have big mits.

I see Godfrey 'Goofy' Lawrence passed away last month. Whilst Rhodesian he was a Springbok cricketer and a very good Currie Cup bowler.

28 wickets in 5 tests @ 18.28
342 wickets in 77 FC games @ 17.97

My dad told me the story once that Rhodesia arrived in East London for a fixture and he forgot his cricket boots. No shop in EL sold size 12 cricket boots so he had to wear his normal shoes.

There are now 10 remaining Springbok cricketers still living ; Kim Elgie, Richard Dumbrill, Denis Gamsy, Pat Trimborn, Peter Pollock, Ali Bacher, Graeme Pollock, Lee Irvine, Barry Richards & John Traicos.
