South Africa team selection

It wouldn't explain the Asian batsmen not coming through, but I wonder how much rugby's success is impacting on cricket. Apart from the obvious trophies, it also seems to have got a better handle on transformation. So if you're a promising non-white sportsman who has the option of choosing between the two, rugby could very well seem far more appealing.
Agree with Stefan's reply to this.

But if we honest and look deeper the split is mainly Black Africans from Eastern Cape (explains why they produce no soccer players?) & KZN as well as coloureds from the Western Cape (mainly Cape Town, Paarl, Stellenbosch, Wellington, Worcester etc). Maybe this can relate to the Western Cape? But I still think there is talented coloured cricketers that are in the system. Some just not kicking on to elite levels (or yet too). Guys like R Hendricks, K Petersen, Z Hamza, J Smith, D Galiem, L Williams, O Baartman

What about PE's Gelvandale coloured's? Under-rated. Now zero.

Shafiek Abrahams, Ashwell Prince, Robin Peterson, Alviro Petersen, Garnett Kruger, Wayne Parnell.

Atleast the A team has some 4 day cricket. No home test cricket pathetic.

Will probably try and attend the WI T20 at centurion.

Here is the ladies schedule:
Feels surprising to plan so much in advance for an A series. The only positive.

2026/27 is the 'bumper' home summer with England, Australia & another here.

We going to Aus middle of this year for a white-ball tour. Couple of games in Darwin.
So nobody is visiting. Haven't managed to organise a single Test? Or just not organising any Tests?

Just Windies for T20s & yes, feels pathetic

It feels like CSA's decision? What they are trotting out is starting the SA20 on boxing day to finish earlier and then run straight into the T20 WC.

We going to India and Pakistan in what may be termed our early summer. Oct-Dec but no specific dates are out yet.

I suppose from a financial perspective if they trying to cash in on WC after an 'exciting' SA20, it makes sense.... It's just so very sad to see.

We have a 2 test series in Zimbabwe that's been proposed for June , then the WTC final later that month, a bunch of white ball tours to Aus and England follow .

Isnt the Zim tour after WTC final? Think it is as WTC is about 8-12th or somewhere around there.

Wonder if they do play Zim in England if it will be given test status or will it be South Africans v Zimbabweans and only a 4-day game.

I would imagine if both boards say its an official test then that is what it will be. Zimbabwe are desperate for more tests and to play 2 in England would be a bonus, for South Africa it would be a good confidence/form builder, and being an official test the game would have to be taken more serious. so hopefully both boards will agree,
