Isnt CSA sacrificing its busiest time by going to Australia over Dec / Jan as well. Talking about bending over

Yes I know Australia get big crowds, heck a large crowd will go to watch two flies climbing up a wall with over excitable commentators who should work for the WWE. But its still a middle finger to the supporters here

Its practical if not nice... and it would be more of a middle finger to supporters here if people bothered to show up for most Test match cricket (CT the exception really)... yes there is a circular logic in that good teams pull good crowds but its not like SA where filling up the stadiums when they had a great team.

Also we only talking once every 4 years, the other three years we will have a home Tests for the Christmas/New Year season...

Much more monies for a struggling cricket association; we can only hope uses it properly. As opposed to being belligerent and hard headed about keeping the boxing day test that frequently ends up being played against much weaker opponents, and that does not attract crowds. Who is the most important stakeholder the protea local fan or BCCI&CA?
Ever seen BCCI or CA do anything to the detriment of their own fans.
CSA does nothing to protect their own fans interests.

Exactly whatever happened with the threat to deal with it at ICC level? Did CSA even launch the appeal...

We still will, we just don't play Aus at boxing day/christmas tests test time... that was always the fight we wanted them to come here but they would not take it away from there summer. And like it or not but they are in the position of monetary power. Now we can be belligerent with them and not play during that time and continue to have smaller series and play Aus outside the season, or we can accept the extra monies it provides and be in a better place financially.

Edit: And this was being talked about long before they pulled out of the recent test series. And I promise you that the ODI/T20 series CSA are much happier about even if us 'proper cricket' fans are not about losing the series. Personally I think we move on and take the win where we can.

No its not the only way, but it does make the recovery from the dire financial situation they current find themselves in for easier and quicker, and thus also allows for the improvements we would all like to see in the system, happen earlier and in a better way. CSA turned the test matches into white ball matches because they get the same amount of money for less cricket and need to fit odi's in with an odi world cup in 2023, there's been no real time to play them recently with back to back t20 WC'S.

Other thing the coverage of the Oz tour will stink unless you have Supersport. Probably no radio coverage either (If playing at home you could get on SABC tv). All you would have is reading shitty Firdose Moonda articles

A loss for the women to Ireland. We weren't at full strength, with Van Niekerk, Kapp, and Lee injured, Du Preez not in the squad (maybe because she won't be playing in the ODIs), and Khaka for some reason not picked to play. Even so you would have expected us to win.

But even though losses like this can happen, especially due to T20s being less predictable, I'm a little worried about our depth. Our first choice team is a great one, but those who come into the side whenever someone's missing do seem to struggle. I know it can be difficult to put in good performances when you're in and out of the side, but that's out of a player's control and you do have to take the opportunities you're given, with some of them having been given quite a few.

De Klerk and Sekhukhune do show promise, but at the moment they're definitely a significant step down from Ismail, Kapp, and Khaka. As for the batting, I'm just not convinced by Goodall, Brits, or Bosch.

I don't think it's necessarily a problem right now, but my worry is that we're seeing a similar situation as the one we saw with the men, where we had a team with some of the best players we've ever produced and then a string of retirements in a relatively short space of time left us floundering.
